Seem to remember the chancellor promising free road tax for cars under 1000. That was some time ago. Has the idea been dropped does anyone know please?

hi,folks. I got a question here about renting a car. I am now 26 years old and holding a full uk driving license. My friends and I have decided to rent a car and travel to scottish highland. However, what i found is that all renting companies have specified a restriction which not allow me to rent a car. Their reason says I am holding the driving license less than one year. And it is not safe to lend me a car. I wonder whether or not there is company can lend me a car.

Thanks

I have my driver's license for 2 years now. I got it with the intention of driving my father's car whenever I need to, but that seldomly happens, because of reasons I cannot be bothered to get into right now. I cannot afford a car of my own as yet.

Just wondering. Thanks

For example, if you had to drive down a road a street that wasn't plowed after a snow storm hit.
Could this little car make it through a substanial amount of snow? In the commercials they neve r show these cars blasting through snow!

I want a torch, to be left in my car, there for anything unexpected.

Ideally I want a really good torch, which has good brightness, reliability, design (comfort and ease - no stupid design) and has long battery life.

I'm told that LED torches are the way to go for battery life and brightness. I know some look good on ebay in the pictures but when you get them they are lightweight, low quality material, and tacky.

Any brand/model of torch known for really good qualities ? I'm willing to pay more for extra good quality instead of tacky rubbish.

I've heard that when parked for short periods of time it saves more gas to leave the engine running, because it would take more gas to start the car up again. Does anyone know the general time when it's cheaper to turn the car off? Does it depend on the car?

I really like cars and love driving. I especially like driving well engineered cars the way they were designed to be driven. I recently bought a new car and it just amazes me daily- so tight and quick-mmm mmm! But I swear it can feel my love. If I let it get dirty or allow the inside to become not immaculate, it seems to slow down just a little bit. The steering seems to loosen, or the suspension will soften. When I detail it, the problems are gone. I swear she gets a little bitter if I don't keep up on this stuff. ( Yes, I thank her after an awesome drive...) Anyone elses car behave this way?

Should the United States follow the environmentally excellent example of Saudi Arabia and ban women from driving cars? The rationale is that America has a long term energy problem and that to halve the number of drivers overnight would also halve gasoline consumption. America would be less reliant on imported oil and there would be a significant reaction in Carbon Dioxide emissions. Global warming would be reduced. All in all a highly desirable outcome? Obviously there would be a need for a little social adjustment, but so many journeys by women drivers are unnecessary anyway that it would only be a short term problem before these adjustments took place. I wonder why nobody has thought of this before. What do y’all think?

I'm looking at getting a new car, probably a solstice. I drive a black car right now and love the color, but there is a yellow one at the dealership and I cant decide if I like it or not. It is cute, too cute, ugly, too girlie? I need some feedback cause this is one Im not too sure about.

We ordered a car from Toyota and have the option to trade in our Jetta to Toyota. However, we are also considering taking the Jetta to Carmax to sell. Assuming that both places offer the same amount, my question is whether or not there are additional taxes or something on a car that you sell to carmax if you are just going to walk away with the money? Do you save anything by trading in at the dealership?
