hi,folks. I got a question here about renting a car. I am now 26 years old and holding a full uk driving license. My friends and I have decided to rent a car and travel to scottish highland. However, what i found is that all renting companies have specified a restriction which not allow me to rent a car. Their reason says I am holding the driving license less than one year. And it is not safe to lend me a car. I wonder whether or not there is company can lend me a car.

Thanks

yes the minimum is three years with a license, if you do find a company that you can rent a vehicle from. be very careful.

First rule in hiring a car. Check the tyres/wheels for damage wear.

Check the vehicle full for ANY damage. including small scratches. even the windsreens for small chips, cracks.
Make sure you have the car delivered/handed to you with a FULL tank of fuel.

The rental companies make their money from charging you for FUEL and DAMAGE to the vehicle.

I know for fact. you may get charged for DAMAGE on the vehicle that is already on the vehicle you hire.but not yet checked into the hire companies system.

always CHECK the hire car, and dont skimp on looking over it and report the damage before you take the vehicle.

When you recieve the car, all damage should be noted on the paperwork.

If it is not question it. this is your money we are talking about

when you return the car, make sure it is full of FUEL. or you will be charged from £1.30 + a litre.

Depends where you are, but try Goodnews car hire in Edinburgh. They were just at the bottom of my street (Haddington Place) and were very reasonable. I don't think they will have any restrictions.

I suppose that would be down to the individual company. Ask around and you might get lucky
