I would be very interested to know what some experienced bikers think of the merits of getting a bike with ABS for my first 'big' bike? Any views would be much appreciated. Thanks

Who on earth gives their 7 and 10 year old kids quad bikes, then lets them chase after them in their car in the dark, down a flipping road???
Sorry for the loss of such a young, innocent life, but that was actually criminal...we are meant to protect our kids from danger...I suppose the parents gave them shot guns in their stockings...

The factory carb was jetted about a 1000 miles ago. It had this popping sound ever since then. So recently the starter solenoid, and the relay was changed. It was put together right, all wires and hoses were checked. And the only thing I could think is coincidently the carb went bad at the same time. When you fire the bike up it runs rough and it dies out. What could it be.

The 2002 Honda XRM has a wiring problem, miswired by the last owner. The voltage rectifier/regulator has a green wire (this I know is ground), red (this I know, goes to battery), yellow, and white. The stator does have a yellow and white output wire, one producing a max of about 12Vac, the other a max of about 20Vac, both apparently relative to ground [don't ask me why this stator is wired relative to ground. I see that the stator also has two other wires right now leading to some kind of electrical box linked to the spark plug coil, one high voltage, one low voltage. Should they both be connected to the voltage regulator? Or should one go to the front headlights also? or to front headlights only? Should there be a "12v Switched" wire from the ignition to the voltage regulator? Basically the main question is "where exactly should the yellow and white wires into the voltage regulator come from"?

Thanks!!
Peter

I went to a local Triumph dealership. They convinced me to sign on the dotted line for a new Daytona 675. I started it up on the showroom floor and it sounded fine. After signing the paperwork and heading out while they were closing up, I noticed a small puddle of fluid underneath the bike. I immediately asked the saleperson about it and he assured me that the maintenance dept was going to go over it with a fine tooth comb, however, after getting home, deep down inside I don't feel that the leak was a good sign.

I won't take physical possession of the bike until we arrange delivery for it possibly on the first business day after the new year. I called and left a message for them to hold my paperwork, because it still had to be signed off on by mngmt, and I wanted to speak with the manager about my concerns. I really want out of the deal. Is that unreasonable?

Hi, i recently rebuilt the top and bottom end on my 99 kx 250. I used a Hotrods crank kit, a Wiseco prolite piston, resleeved the cylinder with an L.A. Sleeve as well as replaced all necessary seals and gaskets. The bike was broken in properly but in all gears just before powerband i seem to be getting what sounds like really bad detonation. Once in powerband it's fine. Has anyone experienced this problem before? I checked the powervalve and it seems to be moving freely. I am using Castor 927 premix mixed at 32:1 along with Exxon 93 octane fuel with octane booster. Is it a possibility that the octane is still not high enough? Also when the new sleeve was installed it was bored to fit the piston fairly tightly, i think there was something like .003" clearance so i don't believe it's piston slap. Any help and suggestions will be greatly appreciated, thanks!!!!!!!!!!

I heard that you are allowed to shift up without using the clutch, is it true, and after effects? Also when downshifting, do you have to match your downshift to the amount of rpm's? And do you always have to start in first gear, or can you start in second gear? Because, i heard that getting used to 1st gear is a little tricky. Also what will happen if you let go of the clutch early or even if you hold it in too long? Thanks.

i am about to buy my bike next month. Im looking at the 07 cbr 600rr so it will be cheaper but I saw the 08 cbr 600rr graffiti and i love it. Now, I cant decide what to get. the 08 is around 2k more. monthly payment will be the same for 2 years. Im 5'8' in height 170lbs. cbr is the one i chose because of the comfort. I tried r6 but its too high and heavy.
my question are,
what do you think I should get? the cheaper 07 or the 08 graffiti? or try some other brand?
how do I negotiate with the dealer to get the best deal?
Around how much do you think i will be paying for insurance? im 28 yrs old. just got my M1. Have my DL for 8 years. no bad records.
should I get the extended warranty? what is that for?

I mean, with most new bikes coming out with EFI, I'm afraid that motorcycle mechanics will lose their "edge " when it comes to re-jetting carbs and new mechanics may never get taught how to properly set up the air-fuel mixtures for optimum carburetor perfomance.

I guess it's kind of like finding a good barber. Once you find one you like, pray he never retires, at least while you still have hair on your head.

My hubby has a 2002 Honda VT1100 Shadow Spirit. I have been pricing new insurance policies. I have been asked if it is the "American" or " Classic" edition. We do not know and there is nothing on the title other than what I have stated.

I have been researching Honda sites and all I can find specs for is the Spirit. Anyone familiar with the other two possibilities?
