Just started getting into customizing bikes this season, I like to find the older 70's style ones for a couple hundred and make them into bobbers or choppers, did a great job on a cheap xs I got a few months ago, saw an xs-1100 for sale the other day in mint, for only a couple hundred so jumped on it. My buddy said that since it was shaft drive, I may have problems lowering it because of the change in degree of the shaft, I'll be dropping it about 6 inches, just removing the shocks and using fender struts. I've seen plenty of pics of shaft drive bikes dropped and lowered, I just need to know what issues I will have and what do I need to do to prevent damage, cosmetics are simple, some ebay solo seats, drag bars, jesse james fenders, etc, but not much of a mechanic as far as internals go, what do I have to have done to be able to lower a shaft drive bike without issues?? if there are any?

Is it possible to mount 2 sidecars on a Motorcycle, one on the left and one on the right? Has it been done before? Do people do it? And will the result be road legal? I'm thinking of trying this out as DIY project, with the goal of trying to carry 5 people on a motorcycle license if two people sat in each sidecar, and on person sits behind the rider. Think of the fuel economy, and the relative inexpensiveness of my creation. I researched this a bit online earlier and found nothing. Hope I will have more luck here. Thoughts and opinions are welcome.

I'm thinking about getting a sportbike, duh. But what kind? It would be my first.. I want something kinda fast and cool. (Not too fast mind you.) Was thinking about a Suzuki GSX1300R Hayabusa, Honda CBR 600RR, or Yamaha R1. OR, just tell me a good one to get. I'm not wanting to go over 7k.

BTW I can't get a new bike at 7k... So it would be used. Just to let you ppl know..

Thank You!

What kind of spark does your bike have.. or what type of spark should a perfect bike have..

Mine used to be orange, big and wandering.

Now ive got my loom sorted out its white consistent and strong.

Is this right?

My problem is, my bike will not start and the spark is there, fuel to plug, compression and air, but not firing.

Only thing i can thing of is timing (not started after re-build)

Would the magnto timing cause this?

Thanks.

The bike is a 2007 Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad 1600. We're in Kansas, so it's cold out. Duh, yeah I know. When I start the bike, it immediately kicks into fast idle, and I understand that, though I don't like it. But then, after warm-up, while riding, whenever I clutch in and roll off the throttle, it won't drop to normal idle. And whenever I stop at a red light, it'll kick back up to fast idle again. Very aggravating. I've got a call in to the dealer and Kawasaki rep, but so far, no answers...I'm wondering if all this is considered "normal" or if there's a fix for this...in addition, Kawasaki has thoughtfully provided a choke cable and push-pull knob that seems to do absolutely nothing.

In NJ, where it is real cold... I have my RK connected to a battery tender... Does it "help" or "hurt" to "warm up", start the bike in the garage... I'm thinking, I shouldn't because the oil is propably all drained to the bottom, every thing is very , very cold... and yet the battery is still being charged... Should I just wait till March before "hurting my baby" ? I figure in March the oil will be naturally warmer and thinner... What are your thoughts?

Please reply if you think you know the correct answer.

If I could afford one, I would get a 50th anniversy Yamaha R1. I've alway's wanted an R1, even before I learned how to ride and I currently have an R6. I just love the styling and the lines. It looks like it's going fast, even when it's standing still!
