The police tried to reset the button in the rear of the car so it would start up. My car refused to start, it would not even try to turn over. It was towed to a Ford Dealership where I was told it needed a battery. A new battery was installed. My car started but when I drove it home I noticed a picture of a battery with + and - sign that keeps blinking. Has my alternator gone bad too? Is this due to the accident? My insurance says it has nothing to do with the rear end accident. Up until the time of the accident I had no troubles with the battery or the alternator. Does anyone have any idea or explanation? Help.

we just bought a 2007 Jeep liberty with 24,000 kms on it. We have had it for about 3 weeks now and just recently we noticed that there was a leak in the oil pan. its not really seriouse but it is going to be repaired. We have bought the extended warranty on the used vehicle so we went to the dealer and they said that it must have been a rock hit it and we would have to pay for it as it was not covered by warranty. We DID NOT do annnny sort of off-roading with it, the only thing we used it for since has been highway driving. They said they looked it over but we do not see any way at all that we could have caused this problem. none the less we still have to pay for it which is about 200 bucks.

any thoughts about if this should be covered, is there anything we can do ??

A few days ago I got my Rodeo badly stuck in mud and it needed a tractor to pull it out. Upon being pulled out by the tractor, the Rodeo has developed a horrible steering shimmy. From what I noticed, the shimmy becomes worse with speed and the steering feels unusual. When I jacked up the front right tire to see what was going on I found that I had both horizontal and vertical play. There was about 1 inch of steering play and about .25 inch toe play. Also, I had shimmy problems long before the tractor pulled my Rodeo out. The shimmy would come and go, and sometimes it got very bad where my steering wheel shaked. I have about 256,000 miles on that Rodeo by they way.

I am looking for suggestions for tires. I plan on shopping at Discount Tire, but would be open to other store options. More importantly I am looking for suggestions on tires. I want a good gripping tire with good performance, but I also don't want to pay too much (yeah I know). I drive aggressively and like go from stops in a hurry. The last tires I had were BF Goodrich T/A KDW's. I bought the car with these tires on them, and have not been overly impressed. The tires are about 2 years old, and while they do have some tread left they don't seem to have any grip. I spin the tires constantly, sometimes when I don't even mean to. And driving in the rain is practically a death trap. I was told my rims are from a recent year Corvette Z06, the tire size with this rim is 265/40 18. What is a suggestion for a good priced high quality tire, and I would be willing to alter the size a little to save on price like to 275/35 or something like that. Suggestions?

I have a 2000 Lexus RX 300 and lately the fan has been making really loud screetching noises when I turn it on for the heat. What do you think might be wrong? How much do you think it will be to fix?

I was driving down the road when I noticed smoke coming from my driver side back, I thought my tire was rubbing on something so I pulled over and checked, there was nothing wrong until I looked up front to see all my tranny fluid on the ground. I popped the hood and it was everywhere under the hood. I then had my buddy tow me home and now have no clue what happened. Any help would be useful thanks.

It's a 2000 Jeep Wrangler w/ Auto Tranny and the 4.0L

My CR-V has recently started to act up. I don't know what the cause of the following two things are, but I would like to know if anyone could help me with a possible diagnosis and the estimated cost of repair. That way, I'm not totally ignorant when I take it into the shop.

1) The steering wheel of my CR-V vibrates when it is turned all the way and the car is moving. Like when doing a U-turn or pulling into a parking space.

2) The transmission clangs when it shifts into 2nd gear.

Thank you very much for your help/advice!!!

I took it to a local auto shop and they said it was the distributor and fuel filter. For diagnostics, new distributer, labor, towing and fuel filter they said it will be about 1,500. 800 alone for the distributor. Does this sound right? It just seems a lot. Also if you had a 11 almost 12 year old car, would you put the money into or get a new car? It has been a great car, but in the past year I have already put around 2000 in it. It has 110,000 miles on it.

I accidentally backed my car into a cable box (Very Gently, I know it was stupid.) The cable box was green and the green from the cable box kind of ''smeared'' onto the right back bumper of my car. I've been trying to scrub it off, but it's still there. What can I do to make the green go away??

I am the original owner of this Corolla and it has always had a silent and very gentle ride to it so that one cannot even tell that the ignition is on. After having the new tires, 2 Tie Rod Ends (L & R) and the Alignment it now has some vibration in the steering, you can feel it in Driver's seat & floorboard and it has a low humming sound. What may be causing this?
