That means that you have a limited slip differential rear end.
It will only allow a wheel to spin a little before the power is applied to the other wheel. This is great for low traction areas or conditions. Like mud or ice. This will help you from getting stuck in sloppy conditions. All my cars and trucks have the limited slip.
good luck.

Posi traction is like the great-grandparent of ESC. ESC (electronic stability control) has more abilities and uses sensors in the car to determine which direction the driver wants the car to go, and compares that to which way the car is going. If the system senses a skid and the car is not going in the direction the driver is telling it to go -- it can apply the brakes on individual wheels to bring the car back under control. Because the system can brake individual wheels, whereas the driver can only brake all four wheels at once, ESC can recover from skids that a human driver can't. ESC is a mandatory safety feature on all new manufacture vehicles as of 2012 in USA. Pay attention to the age of the vehicle that can also effect what traction system will likely be in place. Hope that helps.

It means that both wheels will spin instead of all power being transfered to the wheel with the least resistance. In a car without posi or limited slip if one wheel is on ice that will be the only whell that gets power and you will be stuck.

Lift the rear axle & support on jack stands. Rotate the tire. If it has a posi carrier both wheels will turn the same direction. If the opposite wheel turn in reverse rotation then it is not equipped. »»»

Limited slip differentials use various mechanisms to allow normal differential action when going around turns. When a wheel slips, they allow more torque to be transferred to the non-slipping wheel.
