I don't know the name for it, but there is a coolant junction block on the driver's side of the engine. it takes hot coolant and returns it via a large rubber hose to the radiator assembly.
When starting the car and until it warms up, coolant trickles out between this piece and the engine. Once it warms up, it seems fine. Is this the thermostat assembly? It's torqued on very tightly and I have no idea how much it's going to cost to repair or replace. Any thoughts?

1998 BMW. Garaged. Synthetic motor oil. Stored for approx. 18mo. Garage temperature may have exceeded 100deg F during summer months.

I'd like to get it back on the road, however I am extremely concerned that attempting to turn the engine will cause it to seize. It has not been started for a very long time.

Should I be concerned about turning the engine?

Is there any preventative measure that I can take prior to attempting to start the car?

Advice would be much appreciated.

My problem is that my car does what my friend dubbed "the honda tick." When I push on the gas, something makes a ticking noise. It sounds like something small is loose, and is flipping around when I'm driving. But when I let off the gas, it stops, even though I'm still moving. Is this bad? Or is it just normal wear and tear on the enigine?

My engine should stay at 750RPM when i'm in park, at a red light, or stop sign. Sometimes when cranking up in the mornings the engine will rev up to anywhere between 1250-2000RPM without me giving it any gas. Then it will drop down to 750rpm and rev back up again. This usually happens until I drive off. Sometimes it will drop to 500rpm (at red lights or in park) and sounds like it wants to cut off but it revs back up again. When holding the brakes (sometimes) it seems like it wants to overpower me and accel with the rpm meter going to 1000rpm. This is a used car. I've had it 18 months and this problem didn't start until after I took a 200+ miles trip. I've had it tuned up a year ago and had the tube seals and gasket replaced. The check engine light is not coming on. Does anyone have an idea with is causing my engine to rev without accelling? Thanks for your help.

I have a 1997 Volvo 850 & my breaks squeak 96% of the time when I drive. I had a mechanic tell me that I could haul *** in reverse and slam on the brakes a couple times to smooth out my brakes, but I want to know what your take on it was.

**The brakes don't squeak when I am going faster than 40mph and brake.**

Also if there's any ideas or remedies you have I would definetly appreciate it because my car and school buses are the only cars I hear that squeak this bad.

I have recently changed my wires, plugs, distributor cap, and rotor and my car still sputters.

I just put some fuel injector cleaner in my gas tank, but I usually do that at every oil change anyway.

My air intake hose has a hole that is covered by duct tape, but that has been there since before the recent sputtering.

The sputtering seems to happen after heavy rains and usually goes away. However my car does not seem like it is acclerating at full speed still.
