My problem is that my car does what my friend dubbed "the honda tick." When I push on the gas, something makes a ticking noise. It sounds like something small is loose, and is flipping around when I'm driving. But when I let off the gas, it stops, even though I'm still moving. Is this bad? Or is it just normal wear and tear on the enigine?

Ticking sounds are never normal wear and tear in an engine! It sounds like you might need your valves adjusted but sometimes they do chatter anyway because we'd rather have them a tad loose than over tightened! Also, cheap fuel or low octane fuel will cause a ticking sound when you excelerate. You should definitely have your mechanic check it out before it becomes a much bigger problem!

Sounds like an exhaust leak. Trust me. A bent pushrod would tick all the time. An exhaust leak is loud when you press on the gas and lets up when you let off the gas. Cheap to fix as well. Feel better?

The first thing to check is the oil level. If it is full, then It sounds like the valves need to be adjusted. You should have a local shop give you an estimate. Usually inexspensive and will cure that irritating noise coming from the engine bay Good Luck

It's your valvetrain, either your lifters are sticking, or your valves need to be adjusted.
This can be a result of many things.
Crappy oil, or a crappy oil filter (yes an oil filter can make a difference) IE don't use a crappy Fram one. Some cars just don't like it.

it doesnt sound too serious to me,maybe its a lifter,they quieten down some when you let off the gas.go get some treatment and put it in the oil,and see if it quietens it down.

If it is when you step on the gas, it is likely your transmission. Have it checked out soon.

it is normal for honda they have noisy injectors they click thats all no big deal.
