I don't know the name for it, but there is a coolant junction block on the driver's side of the engine. it takes hot coolant and returns it via a large rubber hose to the radiator assembly.
When starting the car and until it warms up, coolant trickles out between this piece and the engine. Once it warms up, it seems fine. Is this the thermostat assembly? It's torqued on very tightly and I have no idea how much it's going to cost to repair or replace. Any thoughts?

If the assembly is rounded, then it's probably for the thermostat.

It could be the gasket is shot. Replace it and see if that fixes it.

It sounds like it's just the heater hose. Just get the car hot and look for the leak. Don't put it off. If the system can't maintain pressure, you can be looking at some serious grief. Why would you replace a valve gasket for a coolant leak?

If you're really torquing it down and it still leaks, that either isn't the actual leak point or there is a crack in the assembly itself. May need a new hose. For a Focus it may run you about $30, not including labor.
