Thanks to all who answered yesterday - Several said "alignment" and some said shocks/struts. Just to clarify - I just got through hauling a load from New Jersey to Florida for the umpteen time & I knew it was just a matter of time before something would give - funny thing tho - I heard a clunk (metalic) sound in the rear when I backed up - just before it happened - (the rear end fishtailing, that is). It was a clack sound just as if something had broken off, I thought it was something as simple as the weight (the ones they put on the wheel for balancing) coming off from a wheel so that is why I went and got the wheels balanced and rotated - not that it didn't need it, but that did not rectify the problem) and then I thought - "huh?, universal?", I had had trouble with universal (or is it called drive shaft?) previously on my Dodge van. I just need to be sure of what to ask for when I go into a garage for repair or at least appear to have some degree of intellegence. Thanx again!

Hi I have a Ford Focus from the year 2000 with a 1.6 Zetec engine, I have changed the OIL 2500 Miles ago, and today I have checked the OIL level and I found out that it was nearly empty; does anyone knows if this is a common problem on this Ford Focus engine type?

My car Has 68000 miles and I don’t have blue smoke coming out from the exhaust or any kind of leaking on the engine. Can someone help me please or advice me what to do?

I have a 1994 Ford Aerostar XLT fishtailing - which means the rear moves back and forth whenever I go over 40 MPH. I thought it might have been because my wheels were not balanced so I got them balanced and rotated but it did not rectify the problem. Does anyone know what is causing this wobble? Thanx - Mary

Hello, I own a 1998 Ford Crown Victoria. I am interested in purchasing Tis model 01 wheel size 20x8 and bolt cirlce 5x4.5. I know all offsets will fit my car but which offset would best fit my car. I don't want the wheels to stick out past the fenders and I don't want the wheels to be sunken into the fenders too much. I want the wheels to fit like stock. My question is what offset do I need because several offsets are listed 18, 30 and finally 38? Thanks, George.

I drive a 2001 Ford Taurus SE. I have two children and a husband and I am only 27. When I drive this car I feel like a granny driving such a big car. We still owe money on it so trading it in is not a option at this point. Is there any way to sport up this car so it looks better. The reason for this car is because it suit as at the time, with all the baby stuff you need to take going places plus this is what we quilfied for.

Has anyone here had an '89 Tempo that had problems stalling out constantly? I just got the damn thing (for free) and it does fine (sometimes) when you are driving down a straight road, but if you slow down or go to make a turn onto the next street she stalls. I'm going to be changing the fuel pump and the timing, but was wondering if anyone else has had this sort of problem and if so how did you resolve it or did it not get resolved at all after continuiously fixing/changing out parts? Thanks for your input.
Yes, I know this is posted under Maintenance and Repairs, but maybe someone in this section could help too. Thanks

I converted an 86 mustang from a 2.3 four cylinder to a 5.0 V8 the v8 is carborated and so was the 2.3 i took out of it but the computer or the (ecm) is still for the 4 cylinder. I know for sure that the 4 cylinder computer is the eec-iv setup cause i had the computer out to check and the distributor is for a v8 also a eec-iv setup. Ive replaced the solenoid, starter, the whole distributor, the ignition switch, the battery and i put in a new ignition coil and it still does the same thing. The one thing I noticed is that it backfires most of the time when its real hot outside and especially hot inside of the car.Could it be the computer is no good? Any ideas what it may be or something I can try?

This question is posed to EXPERT car mechanics only please. We had an ol' 77 Honda civic clunker that my spouse would put on high choke and rev it up at high speed to warm up the cold engine...Now we have a '97 Ford escort that has some digital chips in the engine..the engine was replaced once already because I suspect that the warm up process my spouse uses wore it out real quick but he continues to do the same thing daily....My spouse will only listen to words of wisdom from someone of expertise in this matter...any suggestions?
