For some reason, the (parking )BRAKE light always illuminated on the display. If i brake at a certain level, it goes off, and when i accelerate again, it comes back on. Why is it doing this?! and yes, the parking break is down/off.

Also just the other day, the lights on the gear shifter went out.

Any help appreciated. Thanks.

With my old car, it was just scheduled oil changes, but they are trying to get me to get a 600 dollar service for being at the 60K point. I need to know what i HAVE to have done to keep my warranty active.. HELP!!!! The people at the dealership havent the sense to figure out what im asking!!!

I have a 2004 f150 Ford truck with about 38000 miles. My battery keeps dying and I've noticed a ticking sound above the fuel tank in the back, on the drivers side - right by the area where I pump the gas in, I took it to the Ford dealer - they dont know what could be making the ticking sound. The mechanic said he would have to take the truck bed off. I thought maybe it was the fuel pump, stuck. He said no. The fuel pump switch or whatever it was he said is under the spare tire. Does anybody know what is above the fuel tank right behind the drivers side that would make that ticking sound. What ever it is keeps getting stuck and drains my battery. It is not all the time, maybe about twice a week (with everyday driving). I appreciate any comments - the Ford dealer wants to charge me an arm and a leg just for taking the bed off to look.

I know they dont have the best reputation, well Ford in general, but im 16 years old and the guy is selling it for $1,000. From what I look at online and in the blue books it is a very good deal. I have not driven it farther than just a few feet yet though because it was parked in a locked private lot. I will be able to drive it tomorrow and check it out. So no real problems with it, is it a good deal you think?

Had my intake manifold replaced not too long ago. Noticed a loss of torque and power going up hill. I also noticed that the RPMs go up higher, but the car doesn't feel like it's going any faster. Could there have been a loss of compression due to the swap of manifolds? Also, was there need for adjustments to the car's computer due to the change? I took it to a non dealer auto shop, so I'm not sure if that would have made a difference, other than the difference in cost for the repair.

For over a week I was hearing a buzzing sound through my 1998 Ford Mustang V6’s stereo speakers. This would occur whenever I would rev (hit the gas) the engine. At first I thought that the speakers might be going bad. So last night the red battery indicator light came on. So I thought the Sears Die Hard Gold Battery was going bad. I have had the battery since about 2001. The battery gage was fine and had never gone down past the normal section. I do NOT have any modifications on the car stereo system.

I asked a mechanic friend and told him about the buzzing sound in the stereo system when revving up the engine. He told me that the alternator is going bad and that the red light coming on means that it is no longer able to charge. He told me not to drive the car any further until I get the alternator replaced because the car would most likely die on me.

Does any one have any thoughts on this issue?
