I have a 2002 Mustang. I am at the 60,000 Mile mark, and due for an oil change this week. I have the 75,000 mile warranty, but I was curious what had to be done to keep the warranty active? With my old car, it was just scheduled oil changes, but they are trying to get me to get a 600 dollar service for being at the 60K point. I need to know what i HAVE to have done to keep my warranty active.. HELP!!!! The people at the dealership havent the sense to figure out what im asking!!!

Perhaps the "people at the dealership haven't the sense to figure out what (you are) asking" because you haven't had the sense to READ your maintenance schedule.

There it is .
Your 60k mile service is on page 17.
Most of it is 'inspections' however if it is advised that you replace something & you opt NOT to take that advice, then you could void that part of your warranty.
This service interval shouldn't cost any more than normal maintenance if you have kept it all up to date.
I would advise you to download the guide that I have provided for you & actually read it.....
That way when a service advisor explains repairs or maintenance to you, you won't look like a complete idiot, & you will understand what 'HAS' do be done. You may even ask if you can get away with waiting a few more miles on certain replacements.
If you refuse to allow certain repairs or maintenance & then something else goes wrong due to your negligence, then you'll be on Answers again looking for help.

Please read and re-read what ETHOL answered. She knows what she's talking about!!! I love how people expect their cars to last forever without putting a single dime into it. What's even more insulting to the people who work at the dealership, is the attitude that they OVERCHARGE!!! Sure, take it to the ten minute oil change depot where you have $5.00 per hour kids working on your car. Yet, when "ma & pa's" garage can't fix a car properly, who do you think they sublet the car to get fixed?!!! That's right, take it to a "small shop" where guys can't fix a sandwich if their lives depend on it, "throwing" parts at it in the hopes of fixing the problem at YOUR expense. And the dealership overcharges, right? Now, if you make it blatant and obvious that you have no intention of doing business with the dealer, why should they help you with explaining to you what you need done for MAINTENANCE and WHY you need it?

Just go talk to your dealer...they will work something out. I wouldn't waste my money though....they are good cars and should have no major problems if properly maintained. put a little cash back every month for car repairs when they are needed..You'll spend alot less money.
