this may help and really because I stumbled on something very similar 2 weeks in the past on a 2001 concentration. merely to the right of the battery there are 2 earth straps which restore to the chassis. This connection had corroded severley and those connections were infact area of the earth element for the combimeter. after I bumped off both connections, the 10mm headed 6mm bolt sheared because of the massive quantities of corrosion. I wiped clean up the connections and placed the straps into yet another hollow it truly is largely a million-2 cms to the right of the first hollow and bingo the combimeter worked. strong success!

That'll be one of the low volt fuses under the dash. You'll have to look at the fuse map in the owner's manual to see wich one though. If you don't have the book you can go to the ford site and look it up. Have your VIN code handy that'll save you some time finding the right pdf.

Are they not working or are they playing up? As all focus's suffer from vehicle speed sensors becoming faulty causing the rev counter and gauges doing erratic things.

Don't know for sure. Try to locate a Haynes manual, try eBAy, that should tell you everything you'd ever want to know!
