Stay away from the 5.4 v8 made between 98 and 03. Big time problems with spark plugs blowing out of the engine. google Ford spark plug blowout. Go to the consumer affairs website. 2-3 complaints a day. Ford doesn't care.

Its a hard thing to say. Some say no, some say yes. Ive owned a 98 explorer V6 4.0 since 1998. I had to change the motor once, but still have the same tranny almost 200K later. Remember one thing, almost all trucks will last pretty long. Their built tough. Don't let Chevy, mopar etc talk you out of It. You should be OK although they do have manifold gasket problems. Gd luck

Yes they are very reliable but not the best on gas mileage. My Ford pickup is 6 yrs old and has never been in the shop except for oil changes.

They were in the '70's; even Consumer Reports named it best truck. Reliable does not equate with any vehicle pushing 40 years old.

Yes, they are. They are the #1 selling truck for I don't know how many years running. They also have the greatest number of trucks on the road with more than 200,000 miles on them. So take care of your truck and it will take care of you.

Way better than GM. Just try to get an older one, that way they don't have all these secret black boxes that record stuff in case you have an accident.
Mine is a standard and gets about 25 to 30 highway. It gets better if you can get mag wheels for it (they are aluminum and weigh less).
