why do people feel the need to play music in thier cars at ear splitting levels? with bass turned up full so that you can hear them miles away? surely it sounds dreadful in the car?

i have an 01 honda accord that has an ok radio and cd player. but i want to get a radio with a cd player and an auxiliary input so i can just play my ipod in my car through my speakers. im wondering where to buy this sony radio i found on circuitcity.com right now for like $80. ive already decided im not going to install it myself since ive read you can mess up your car if you dont know what youre doing. if youre going to have a new radio installed, is it better to have it installed at a big brand name place like best buy or circuit city or would you trust those cheaper radio installation stores that arent big brand names like those? i know it would be cheaper at the smaller radio installation stores and ive heard sometimes they do free installation, but im just worried about something going wrong from those people in installing a radio and warranty. if i do decide to buy it at best buy or circuit city, do car radios get cheaper by thanksgiving sales? can anyone help, thanks

In the last couple of weeks, I've had the radiator, cap and valve replaced in my car to fix an ongoing overheating problem. It seems to have done the job, save for the fact that when I turn on the stereo (no matter the speed of travel, including sitting idle at a stop light) the temp gauge starts climbing. Is there any possible explanation as to why this might be happening, how to fix it, where to go to get it fixed, and a rough estimate of how much it might cost to fix? I know it doesn't seem to make sense, but it's almost as though they are on a switch together, turning the stereo on results in an immediate and sustained rising of the temp gauge needle, but turning it off, the temp gauge needle returns to normal levels...thanks in advance!

ok im intrested in ALPINE TYPE X SWX-1242D & PDX-1.1000 AMP.. TWO OF EACH

and well the dealers around here are saying around 4-500 for the sub and 800 for the amp.. well online i find much cheaper. such as the sub being under 300 and the amp being under 600.. which i calculate after price of the 4 items being a total of $1700 and bought in a store of normal retail price at around 2500+. now i know that the store usually charges extra install and a fee since its an outside product because of it not bought there vs it being all free if bought there but thats like under 100 im guessing so which still saves me money buying it online and just having them install, put it in a brand new box of theirs.. is that the right way to go.

basically im thinking on buying

2 AMPS,
2 SUBWOOFERS
1 DECK
all online and having he store fill in the blanks for everything else (BOX,WIRES,CAPACITOR)

All I need is a 4 or 5 digit code in the user manual (which I don't have) to unlock my radio. Like a fool, I left the lights on and the battery went dead. I jumped it off another car, but now when I try to turn on the radio, the display says "COdE". Like I said, I don't have the user manual and my local Honda dealer said it would be in there.

I am making a Sub box for my '03 dodge ram 1500 4x4 reg cab truck. I'm using one 10" sub, will it sound weird if I mounted it behind one of the seats? I was thinking of doing that and facing the sub twards the other seat. Would it throw the bass off to one side more or what.

have a 2005 Nissan Altama S 2.5 and i have the stock audio system in it, yesterday the audio stopped working when a family member was driving it. when they came home i checked out turning the car off and on and there was no thump or anything else that could tell if the speakers shorted, and then i checked the fuse panel inside and it said that the audio and mirrors are on the same fuse, so i checked the mirrors and they worked. i could not really check the fuse because it was dark outside, any help would be great. it is saying the radio is on it goes to diff. radio stations, and shows the cd is playing but no sound, some people are telling me to check the fuse under the hood. would this be coverd by nissan it is a lease car
and please tell me what i can do.

I've just put a JVC radio in my Rover 200. The radio has a 'OE steering control connector' which is a jack socket. The car has a connector with 4 wires the went to the old radio. 2 of these are for the steering controls adn I understand it's just a case of differing resistances appearing across these lines dependant on which button is pressed.

The proper leads to get the car talking to the radio are around £35! Is there an easier (cheaper!) way? I'm happy to cut wires or build a circuit if necessary.

What is it the radio is expecting to see by way of input on the steering control socket?

Thanks!

To make a long story short, I bought a stereo which was alot of money, it didn't work, I sent it back and it's been over a month and no response. Everytime I call these people they give me the runaround. I bought from this seller before and everything was fine. But this time around it sucks. What are some threatening words I can use without cursing? (I'll prolly end up doing that anyway) Any help would be apprecitated
