i have an 01 honda accord that has an ok radio and cd player. but i want to get a radio with a cd player and an auxiliary input so i can just play my ipod in my car through my speakers. im wondering where to buy this sony radio i found on circuitcity.com right now for like $80. ive already decided im not going to install it myself since ive read you can mess up your car if you dont know what youre doing. if youre going to have a new radio installed, is it better to have it installed at a big brand name place like best buy or circuit city or would you trust those cheaper radio installation stores that arent big brand names like those? i know it would be cheaper at the smaller radio installation stores and ive heard sometimes they do free installation, but im just worried about something going wrong from those people in installing a radio and warranty. if i do decide to buy it at best buy or circuit city, do car radios get cheaper by thanksgiving sales? can anyone help, thanks

Go to Circuit City, they do good installs and you can always purchase the protection through them (highly recommended), plus they have a great selection. They are almost always running free install on any deck $99 and up, even if they're not just tell them that either Best Buy or a local shop is running free install and they should match it. Now, don't go with the bottom of the line deck, the features and quality (sound and build) will be worth the extra $$$. As of right now, I'd have to say go with either Pioneer or Eclipse. The Sony decks are nice but the 06 models aren't up to standards. Stay away from JVC (except EXAD series) and Kenwood (except EXCELON series). Panasonic also makes a good deck.

XM and Sirius are almost identical except for the sports they cover. They combined last year, so they are the same company. I have installed hundreds of both, so it would be unfair for me to say it is easy. Hiding the antenna wire is a bit tricky. There are 3 main routes to run the antenna wire. 1) On the back of the trunk lid. Run the wire back into the trunk, around the side of the back seat, into the door trim, down the driver's side kick panel, up into the dash and to the radio. 2) On the roof right behind the winshield. Hide the wire behind the winshield weatherstrip down the side, back into the car either through the fender, or under the weatherstripping around the door. 3) In the center of the front or rear dash. On some cars, the trunk is not metal and there is no play in the winshield weatherstripping (mercedes for example). In this case you can mound them on the front or rear deck as long as there is metal under the antenna. The antenna needs 6" of metal on 3 out of 4 sides for best reception. It is not that hard, it just takes time and patience, and a little common sense.

don't get Sony get pioneer, jvc, kenwood, alpine,or dual.those places the SMALL stereo stores don't let them do it have best buy or some place like circuit city.i have seen there work at best buy and circuit city and it is vary good and if you go to best buy if some thing goes wrong like it did when my brother had his installed at best buy the tested different things and found it they fixed it for him because they are the ones who did it.you can trust the big name places so go for it if you are fine with having a stereo that doesn't have good sound get the Sony if you want a better sound go with one of the other brands listed above.

I recently had a new stereo put in my car. I needed it for the same reason. I went to a local installer and they did a great job, just make sure that they are an authorized dealer for the model you are buying so you can get a warranty if anything goes wrong.
