I have a 1994 Ford Escort and I have begged my parents for a new car. I'm a freshman in college and I'm looking to take my car on campus next year for sophomore year and I don't want my nasty old Escort down there with a risk to break down on me. My dad's standing argument is "You already have a car and until that one breaks down you're going to drive it." They're thinking of getting my 16 year old sister a newer car and leave me to travel back and forth in my Escort. I need some certain ways to convince my parents to get me a car. I have a well-paying job so I asked my parents if they can at least pay half of it for me but they declined. Help!!! The car I'm looking at only costs about $6,000 used from a private dealer!!!!

Its a u.k. spec lhd brought over to u.k. from holland for a film company, was used to make a famous film. It was purchased to used for filming and was not on the road and the owner ( a provider of cars for filming ( is totally legit)) does not have any paperwork, possibly a bill of sale, as he did not need them. Probably dont even know the old number plate either. Would i be able to register it in france, there is a vin number and chassis number. Thanks

Anything I should know? Any questions I should ask? Any tactics to get a good deal? What should I look for when I open the hood? Any particular car make I should look into?

I live alone in the city and don't know anyone with car buying experience so all useful information is appreciated. Thank you.

ps: I'm looking to buy a mid size vehicle (SUV, truck) as I will need to carry equipment for work (photography ie: backgrounds, lighting, light stands...) and that also won't eat up my wallet in gas. Thanks again.

For the past 13 months, I have been making payments on a 2003 Toyota Tundra. I took over the payments from a former friend and employer. All the payments are current and I have had the truck in my possesion the entire time. My problem is the truck is still in her name and for no reason she just came to my house with the xtra key and took the truck. If I go take the truck back, she will call it in stolen. What can I do?

that was involved in a bankruptcy? The bank doesn't want the car back, & can't accept a payment, however, they won't issue a lien release either (I've called them, repeatedly.). When I bought the car (from a family member) NY DMV was happy to transfer the title-with the lien still on it to me, once I explained the situation. The problem is, I now want to get rid of the car, but potential buyers won't like the idea of buying a car with a 'dirty' title. Any ideas?

I am torn between 2 cars for a purchase! I am looking at a used Chrysler PT Cruiser. 2 of them actually. Here is the problem: There are 2 models I am looking at & just want some input as to which is smarter to buy.

The 1st is a 2006 touring edition. Decent options and only 15k miles on it from a dealer. Still has most of the original warranty left on it. The other is a 2004 limited edition. Fully loaded with everything. about 40k miles on it--also from a dealer. No warrantee left on it.

Sounds petty, I know. The problem is that I like all the added bells & whistles (like leather, sunroof, & heated seats)& I know it will keep a better value with the extras, but I am a fairly practical person & think that it would be better to have a newer car with the less miles on it. Or is it better to have older with more?

While truck searching, I have found two trucks that have really caught my eye. The 07' Ford F-150 FX4, and the 07' Dogde Ram Hemi 4x4. I have likes and dislikes in both, does anyone have any insight as to the durability and off-road characteristics of either truck. Over all which truck will handle the abuse of off-roading?

This may seems like a simple question but I cant seem to get an answer by trawling through the web.

We are a family of 5 with a possibility of a new one on the way. We also intend to buy a 'BIG' dog so we need a 6/7 seater with plenty of boot space..

Simple ? NO !

First problem.. I want to spend less than £5k
Second problem..The chancellor !.. I really wanted a 95/96 Discovery 300Tdi but I'm worried Gordon is going to make my life hell very soon !

Can you help me by making any suggestions.

Many thanks

I've owned an '81 vw pick up, a mercedes 300SD, a VW Golf and currently diver a 2006 mercedes c230, yet my best experience in a car was when i rented a new mustang for my birthday. Sure the quality isnt great, but the feeling the car gives you is. You feel greatness, especially with a mustang that has so much history behind it.When i say i want to trade in my car and get a mustang GT or Chrysler 300 my friends think i'm crazy!haha Tell me why you or people you know have this idea that mercedes or european cars are on another level.

I have '97 chevy cavalier, recently someone left a post it on my door asking to buy it, i talked to my father, and he said he is going to call the guy and see what he will pay. If he will pay more than 2grand (we paid 1600) then my dad says he will sell it if i want him to. What are your opinions, should i sell it or no? And what would a good replacement be? Im expecting the most that i would get for it would be around 4000 so thats the kinda budget im workin with,,,, In case youre wondering the reason i want a new one, is that my interiors are really sucky and old, and the shiny coat over the paint is starting to peel, overall its kinda ghetto looking. If i dont sell it, then i will have to wait for mom to let me getta job in order to fix it up... So yea i guess thats all... Thanks for any help you provide

Is a smog certificate required for trading in a car to a dealer in California when purchasing a new car?

If the dealer accepts the trade-in, can he later cancel it on the grounds that the car does not have the smog certificate?

Thanks.
