Go to a dealership and buy a Chevy Malibu or Chevy Impala and buy the extended warranty coverage, so if you have mechanical problems it could be covered.
Good Luck!
Sorry I don't know of 'cheap' car insurance, it just comes with age.

Your insurance cost will depend greatly on your age. However, on the vehicle side, what you want to look for is a mid - late 90's 4cyl 4 door car. Something like a 96 Honda Accord, or something like that. Have a mechanic look it over before you buy it, and ask what kind of care has been givnen to the vehicle, If you are lucky enough to have run across an owner who has kept a notebook of what schedueled maint. has been done and when, as well as major repairs (I've run into a couple) that would be ideal.
For a first car, Hondas are good, not those little tuner race car Honda's, just get a regular Accord, and you will do just fine. Just my opinion, other will have their opinions, if you are still young enough, this is omething you should also discuss with your parents.

You want a NEW car w/ cheap ins for a new driver?
Good luck. It doesn't exist buddy.
Do what we all did, get a cheap secondhand car and pay a little too much for insurance. Don't drive like an idiot, don't spin your tires, don't go into the ditch cuz you were late to school, don't get high and play Slipknot real loud and slide into a tree.
Drive smart, slow and safe, and eventually you'll be able to have a newer car with cheaper insurance.

at the beginning, i'm answering from the U.S. so i do no longer understand precisely how plenty £800 is worth, yet i'm going to offer you the comparable rules my mom gave me whilst i grow to be getting my first automobile: go first by utilising the form of using you do. i'm at present in Alaska and quickly to be shifting to Michigan. In the two states there is numerous snow and ice in the wintry climate, so a 2-wheel rigidity automobile wasn't a sturdy thought. additionally, in the two states, super autos and SUV's are trouble-loose and mom wanted some thing that if I have been given into an twist of destiny, i might win or a minimum of pop out alive. My first automobile grow to be an F-350 p.c.. up truck. (I nevertheless have it.) 2d, what sort of a driving force are you? Are you careful and take corners slowly or are you a rapid driving force? once you're a careful driving force it would not make a super distinction. once you're a rapid driving force, you like some thing that isn't ultimate heavy (i.e. a Jeep Wrangler or a lifted truck). the better a automobile, the better the middle of gravity, so in case you're taking a nook rapid, that's extra possibly to roll. 0.33, what difficulty is the automobile in? in case you spend all you funds on a used automobile in effortless terms to locate which you would be spending extra on upkeep than the automobile is extremely worth, you would be unhappy and volatile. desire this enables. :)

You sound like a young person.
Buy an old car with a big engine and go drifting everywhere.
Otherwise bur a small hatchback and have a s..t life.
But citroen c one.
About £5500 new. Total crap in my opinion but would suit you down to the ground.
Go for it.

unfortunately since you are a new driver cheap car insurance doesn't exist. insurance companies use age when determining what they charge along with other factors like how long you have been driving,if you have taken any drivers courses and the safty features of the car you will be driving. I hope this helps

Try a Ford Fusion or a Chevrolet Aveo. These are both smaller cars with lower prices and lower insurance.

Citroen C1/Peugeot 107/Toyota Aygo, all the same car with different bodywork and badge.
All group 1 insurance, cheap servicing and excellent fuel economy. Not much luggage space, though.

We don't know your budget, or where you plan to drive, or what you need the car to do (commute, haul big dogs, etc.) but for most people, a Honda Accord, Honda Civic, or Mazda 3 should be fine. All three are reliable, roomy, and very safe -- which means insurance will be reasonable.
