Hi, I've bought a car from a dealer with 82k mileage,(recorded on MOT dated by 2/02/07), but after checking it on MOT web I found MOT dated by 7/06/06 with 145k,
Can I take a legal action against the dealer?

Clocking most definitely is illegal,I'd be very supprised if the dealer did not know the history of the car when they received it,If I were you I'd give Trading Standards a call they will take this up for you.

contact the previous owner to confirm mileage (address on v5). the only problem is if the dealer purchased the car from an auction with the mileage it is now at. have a word with your local trading standards, but speak with the dealer first as it could be a genuine mistake, and if he is any good he will discount or maybe refund. maybe worth an hpi check on their website. all the best

Contact your local Trading Standards office and speak them about it. Sounds like the car has been clocked and that is an offence.

no you cannot, this is not the dealers fault this is up to you to research the cars history before you bought the car, unless you can prove the dealer moved the odometer back
