Buying & Selling - August 2006

I sold a car for a friend's friend a couple of weeks ago via eBay. The buyer sent a cashiers check and after I took out my fee I paid the buyer for the car. In return I got the car and a title. A few days ago I was going to drive the car to meet the seller and the fuel pump went out. I had to get the auto towed to a local Firestone where the auto still resides. The fuel pump repair is $875. The seller will not pay for it as they say "I already got paid and signed over the title so it's your problem". The buyer wants a car that runs or his money back. The seller will not give the money back and told me it is my problem. Who is responsible to repair ther auto? Good or bad - no contract was drawn up for the services I provided in selling their car. Any help is MUCH appreciated. Thanks.

So I own a 1992 Red Jeep Wrangler, 4.0 L Lift, 33' Tires, etc. Its only worth about 2300 dollars, but I think its in great condition to give it up for cheap, plus its the first car I've ever owned. Also, there's this 1997 Saturn something that a dealer wants to sell me for 2375. It has A/C, CD player...all of which the jeep doesnt have. :( I want to know if I should just keep the jeep or move on with my life and get the saturn, a nice chick car?

So, I just asked the question about the car being reposessed and stuff. That was for my mom (The question). Her name is NOT on the contract or anything tied to that vehicle. Does she still owe $$. At the time, her boyfriend's and his brother's names were put on the lease or contract or papers. Her name isn't on anything now to do with the car either!!!!!

I offered to make payment arrangements and they said that it was not suitable. Please tell me what the law is regarding this problem. The bank sold the vehicle at an austion for a lot less than the original loan. I owe about 9,000. for the balance of the loan - the reason why it was repossessed in the first place was because I couldn't afford the the payments (which was extremely over blue book value)..what can I do????

I always respond to ads I know are fake and then get responses saying the typical "can only wire the money through Western Credit Union" or whatever. Then I respond to that, completely bashing the seller, letting them know they're not going to get away with it or whatever...anyway once I do that, they never respond back, huh? This one just yesterday, however, actually responded! And said he WOULD meet up where he lives....uh? Still a fraud isn't it? I mean he's selling a VERY new '05 vehicle for $3000. If I go to the place will I either be "stood up" or killed?

i wanted to buy a car its price was $25,000 plus 8.25% tax. thats $2062.50 more. but there was a rebate of $3000 so i would only pay $22,000 for the car, but the dealership said i had to pay taxes on the whole $25,000. that means that i had to pay an extra $247.50 in taxes on money i was going to get back!!!

so i told the guy, "if you are going to give me $3000 back, why do i have to pay taxes on it. why not just sell it to me for $22,000 and only pay taxes on that?"

well, he would not take my offer. so is this a scam? a way to make more money that they will not send to the IRS???

or is the IRS in on it to collect more money from us???

I've got 8 grand, and need a new car. I wanted a jeep, but realized that as a college kid with gas bein so high it wasn't cost efficient. I'll take a four-banger with some speed, but it's gotta be an AMERICAN made car because I don't feel like payin 85 bucks an hour labor for the foreign dealers to fix their car when somethin goes wrong, my step dad and I can do domestic jobs all day, not foreign. Don't get me wrong, I'd love a foreign, but I gotta stick with a US made car...I had to give up any ideas of the Acura Integra.

The 2.4 chevy cavalier puts out about 150 horses with 23/33 mileage -- not to terribly shabby. The neon's too small, want somethin a lil bigger...and it's gotta have a stick :-D

Any ideas?
