I'm am looking for an entry-level seaworthy inflatable that can either be towed by a 4 cylinder car or stowed away. I'm looking for something rock-solid that I can use inland around Southern California to cruise around on and use as a dive boat to get into coves.

What would be some good choices? Size? Engine? Are there any that are good enough to make the trek over to Catalina Island for the day? I've known people to take Jetskis over there.. What about an inflatable or RIB on a decent day??

Also.. What would I expect to pick one up for used in good condition?

I have a mercuirser 80 hspr in my boat. It is an older motor and for the water to curculate I must prime the system with water through an inlet mounted to the thermostat housing. Is this common?

When I lock my boat trailer crank, so that I can crank the boat by hands to the boat trailer, my crank goes in the opposite direction. What I mean is, I click the lock up so that when I crank the boat onto the trailer, the boat does not roll back off the trailer. HOwever, when I try to lock it, and then crank the boat manually to the trailer, the boat keeps rolling back off the trailer because the crank no longer locks it. So, my question is, there some sort of switch or spring that got swiched to reversal for the crank?

I just started sailing beginning this summer, once a week here in Corpus christi on a J44. It's a blast, and I plan to continue to sail on that boat, but I want to get my own "trailer-able" boat to go out on weekends and learn more in depth.

I'd like to at least be able to take my wife aboard to have some fun (sailing), and to teach my two daughters once thier old enough.

I'd like to be able to launch a spinnaker, as well.

also, what should I expect to pay for a used not-too-old model
