Are all new car stereos the same size? I bought an adapter face plate to install my sons CD player in his 99 intrepid. To my disappointment, the adapter plate opening is to small to fit the face of the stereo in it. Are the majority of car stereos universal in size?

Then, if a car Has both AT and MT, then how does the change of gears affect the movement of the clutch disc? Someone told me that in an example of the BMW 545, how does one, go about moving from one transmssion to another? (I hope I am clear)

Seriously, I live in a country full of BAD drivers and it really tickles my funny bone when I see non-serious accidents...like when a bank sign fell on a car parked in a no-parking area. I laughed for days...and when I saw a woman driving a scooter waaay to fast in the rain and she tired to break for a red light and her scooter flipped one way and she went the other...this shocked and amused me.

the new golf gti only has 1 reversing light on when reversing (at least here, in australia). they said that it's something the engineers thought up. they claim that 1 reversing light attracts more attention than 2, thus making it safer for everybody (the reversing car and other traffic). what do u think about this? i personally think having only 1 reversing light looks ugly.. looks like the car is faulty or something.

Car: as above, 70k miles, recent service, had cam belt done at 50k.

Hi, I have just bought a 51 plate (2002) golf, but I am experiencing continuous smoke when accelerating. Normal diesels just smoke when heavy accelerating into higher than normal revs (clearing out all the cr*p in the engine), but is then fine for a while. This car seems to be smoking all the time that you accelerate (engine hot or cold).
Does anyone have any ideas? I have read elsewhere that it might be a good idea to put some redex in?
Cheers,
Andy

I have tried everything but my car keeps overheating! I have had the thermostat changed, replaced the radiator, and got a new water pump all to no avail. Now I am being told that it is probably the heater core and that is going to cost about $600. Does that sound about right or should I just take a sledgehammer to my car and be done with it?
