What do you think is the best way to go? Should I go to H&R Block etc. or should I pay about $40 per year ('03-'05) for tax software?

Also, my wife (whom I will be filing for) was claimed as a dependent in all of those years and she held a part-time job. Should that affect my decision?

My boyfriend and I just bought a home a few months ago. We are not married. Do we each file our house separately? Or does only 1 of us?

Hello. Where can I get an estimate (ballpark) of how much I might get charged for tax preparation at H&R Block and Jackson-Hewitt? I live in the Chicagoland area and own 2 properties (TX and IL). I have some donations and moving expenses from TX to IL. Married w/1 child under 18. During 2006, I had income in both TX and IL. Thanks!

Hi

I have a form 1099-INT sent by my bank - I went to Liberty Tax Services to do my taxes - however the tax preparer sounded fishy to me. He said that I don't need to file the Form 1099-INT because the interest income is less than $1,500 ???

I thought that why would the bank sent me the form if I don't need to file it :/

Please help - should I file taxes with this guy

and Please clear things up for me??? what is the threshold for interest income so that I don't have to pay taxes

This is per IRS AJCA of 2004, section 280F, and section 179. The problem is the Acadia is NOT built on a truck frame. It meets the Gross Vehicular Weight of greater than 6000 pounds, but it is sketchy in the IRS rules of whether or not it is elegible for the 25% first year deduction. How can I tell if the GMC Acadia qualifies for this IRS deduction?

My sister-in-law's ex claimed her on his tax returns just after they had seperated, but before the divorce. He committed tax fraud, got a refund instead of paying the money he owed, and now my SIL is being held partially responsible (she had no idea he had put her on his return) they owe the IRS $13,000! Is there anyway for her to get out of this, HE is the one who commited fraud!

MPRI considers its overseas employees as private contractors for tax purposes but the IRS says they are definately employees and MPRI must with hold taxes. Rumor is the IRS has a pending law suit against MPRI.

I have my own company in which my employees are taxed based on 1099, it is that time of year where I have to fill in the form 1099-MISC so they can file, But I am stumped on something, on the forms I received from the IRS there are 2 forms on 1 sheet, So can I use 1 sheet for 2 employees, or do I need to write the info for each employee twice?

The policies of the Bush Administrtation have been to reduce (eventually eliminate) the tax burden for UNEARNED income (dividends, capital gains, inheritances). So people who sit on their a55es and colleck dividend checks pay less. Or nothing! This merely transfers the burden of taxation to those who actually work for a living.

Is this right? If anything should be exempt from taxes, shouldn't it be what you WORK for?

I live on an Investment Portfolio. My taxes have been reduced. And when my parents die, I will become a millionaire. Republicans would let me have it all tax-free, while Blue Collar Joe pays to keep America going. Whenhe has a family to support and can barely make ends meet.

This is not fair. Tax people like me! ALL of us!

Why do right-wing Elitists favor a tax system that wages class warfare on working people to benefit the idle rich?
