My friend and I work at Kmart... We get paid 6.25$ per hour. In the last two weeks, we both worked 102 hours total. 60 the week before last, and 42 last week. Also, we worked on thanksgiving for 12 full hours [which was the week of 60 hour work] Well... My friend got her paycheck in, and it was 430$$.. My work is SUPPOSED to pay overtime... did my friend get screwed? And also, they're supposed to pay time and a half for working holidays... Last time I posted this question people kept asking if I'm sure that we had the same hours. YES IM SURE!!...And we have the same info filled out on our W2 forms.. she is single and still lives at home, same with me. So whats the deal here? My dad does payroll for his business sometimes and said that he figures we shoulda made about 550-600 AFTER taxes are taken out if not a little more. What do you think?

I know that gas, office supplies and office equipment are tax deductible for your job. If you know of anything else please let me know. And how long do you need to save all of your recepits in case you are audited.

I want to start a new job soon and I don't really understand taxes...is there a "taxes form for dummies" thing online that could teach me when it comes time to fill out the W4 form? I depend on my family for most of my living expenses, this is just extra money for myself to save for the future. I'm 18, single, no kids, but a dependent. So how do I fill one out?

Thanks!

When I was being processed for a job, I had to file myself as exempt or dependent. I wasn't sure whether to claim myself exempt or dependent, so i just picked exempt. Was that a bad choice? Because I am a dependent child and so is my brother.

I got married in 2007 and I was the only wage earner in our family. My new wife is a stay at home mom, however she has a back child support debt. I called the IRS to find out if there was an offset in place for her debt. They confirmed that there was. I just want to know how much of my refund I will get back once I file and submitt the Injured Spouse form with our joint return.
