The business owner should call the police. If the owner knows who did the embezzling he should give the police that info.

If the person is convicted, reimbursement will probably be part of the sentence. That might or might not get your money back, since embezzlers often will have already spent it, and can't pay back what they don't have.

First and foremost close the account and open a new one. Make a police report and help in any way possible to catch the person who did this. If the amount is more then $3500 this will become a felony and he will be made to pay back all or he/she will be sentenced to jail.

There is always the write off and year end on the tax return as well
