I've made a fair amount of income in interest from CDs. I didn't make any quarterly payments so I want to start doing this starting this quarter knowing it's due on Jan 15th. I went to the IRS web site and they have a 1040ES form. Do I need to send in the whole form or can I just send in the payment voucher along with a payment?

Today I went to a store to buy the Miami Herald (I live in Miami). The price on the paper says $1.00. When I went to go buy the newspaper, the clerk wanted to charge me $1.07 (the Dade county sales tax is 7%). I told her that the $1.00 printed on the newspaper includes the tax. She said no. Of course I refused to buy the newspaper. After all, there are newspaper dispensers where you insert 4 quaters and get the newspaper. Can someone tell me what should be the price of a newspaper (using the example I gave)? Is this business breaking the law by charging the extra 7 cents? If so, who do I go to complain about this?

I know that as long as my baby is born before Dec 31st I qualify for the Child Tax credit...which I know he will be. (Having a scheduled C-Section Friday). This year I have only made under $10,000 due to pregnancy complications. I tried using a tax calc to determine my refund but it came out nearly DOUBLE what I actually paid. I have heard you can get more back w/ Child Tax and EIC. But do I qualify for EIC?? And if so is it normal to get back that much more than I paid?? I'm not married if that helps any.

I sent my tax return in via certified mail and the irs lost my return. They processed my payment that was with the return but lost the actual return and they are requesting I send it back in. They are expecting me to pay a outrageous amount of money based on w-9 that have been sent to them. I have requested a reconsideration of my return. My money has been tied up on this since may and now it is december. Is there any way to make them pay interest on my money and maybe compensate me for my time? Can I sue them for negligence of federal property?

I work for a Healthcare School and I want to do the LPN program. The whole amount is 17,500 and the owner is only giving me a 1,000 discount. I heard that he can give me 40% off and use it on his taxes and he will get the same amount of money back. How can I prove this? Is there a website that I can show him? And what difference would it be if he still got the same amount of money back?
