I was on a courese a few years ago and the tutor told me that the post office has no right to refuse to accept payment for road tax even if you dont have your insurance or mot.
this is because the post office acts as an agent to hm the queen and any agent that refuses to accept a tax levy will allow that person to use the vehicle on the road without the tax
is this true?

Right now I have a 0 on the form but I want to change it. Is that possible to change after just putting the 0 down a week ago or do you have to wait a certain while.

And what is the difference between a 1 and a 2 on the form. What happens when you put either, I want a detailed explanation of each number.

best answer gets an easy 10 points.

thanks.

.... From unfair pay??? What I mean is my employer told me that I was "exempt" from getting paid time and a half after 8 hours of work... and I usually work 14 hours a day, which I also heard that under the California Labor Law that if you work more than 12 hours a day you get paid Double?!?!?
I really would like to know if there is anyone out there that understands my question, and if I'am protected from this unfair pay of my employer???
Does anyone know where I can find hard solid proof that California has Laws protecting workers from this type of "exemption"???
I would appreciate it very much if anyone really understands if I qualify for time and a half and double time as a Bus operator in the state of California???
Thank you very much.

I am in California and thinking of starting a business where I will charge my customers for the services I offer.

However, these services will be offered by pool of moon lighters (registered service providers on my site - most of them working part time for hourly wages). These service providers will be paid for their hours used (no project no payment basis). They are not full time and I am not providing any benefits to them.

Q1: Is this a legal business model? What about 1099 or W-2? Do I need to give them soem kind of tax document at the end of a year?

Q2: Do I pay employer part of taxes for these temp consultants?

Any more details with some links will be appreciated.

Thanks

I have been living in Mexico for 2 years and am a bona fide resident of that country. I have been working for a Mexican company since 2006. I paid income taxes to the Mexican government for 2006. I have checked out forms 2555, 2555-EZ, and Publication 54 on the IRS website and they all imply that I should have filed the 2555-EZ justifying my claim for the foreign earned income exclusion. I only made the equivalent of approximately $4,500 in 2006 and my understanding is that I am able to claim an exclusion for US taxes on up to $82,400 for 2006. However, I am confused because Publication 54 also states that I must file a return if my gross income was at least $3,300 if “married filing separately". I'm in the process of filing for my husband's Green Card so all my taxes have to be in order. Would I have to pay a penalty for filing late even if I don’t owe the IRS any back taxes? Thank you in advance for your assistance.

I noticed that one of my co-workers paycheck is almost $100 more than my paycheck and we have been working the same exact hours. She than told me that she is "exempt". I have no idea what that means, I just know she's getting more money than me! I just want to know if I'm allowed to put that as well. I am 17 and live in New Jersey, if that affects anything. Can somebody help me please =)

I have a friend who works for a taxi company and gets paid by a check that doesnt have any tax taken out. Also, at the end of the year he never recieves a 1099. Is there any reason why the taxi company would not provide a 1099 ?? Is it illegal for the taxi company to not give a 1099? I am very confused about this. Is there some type of exemption if you are considered as a indepent contractor or self employed for the employeer to not give some type of 1099? I am very frustrated about this. Thanks for all the help!
