I purchased a stock about 10 years ago and have been reinvesting for the last 7 years. It has split multiple times and I have sold and donated a portion of the original purchase. I have never touched the reinvested shares. I accumulated all the purchase prices. What do you report the purchase dates and can you report them all as long term gains. How do you report the last year stocks?

My friends and I were having a conversation last night about tax refunds and one of them said that she didn't file one last year, but that she heard that when it comes to refunds you can file up to five years back?? Is this crap true?

Now that the Democrats have control again I hear from our accountant that they are tring (again) to pass the law that makes everyone collect state sales tax on sales. In other words if you buy something from California you will pay their sales tax. This will also effect internet sales because companies will now have to collect the '50 states' state tax on everything they sell. Sounds like an accounting nightmare not to mention the '$ucking $ound' out of the economy/your pocket when this goes into effect!

This must be happening quietly because I can find nothing on the proposed law. Anyone heard of it and do you know where to get info about it?

Thanks

do i have to pay taxes to Revenue Canada on any money made outside of canada?

last question regarding divorce, now the Swiss and Canada have cooperation agreement in divorse cases, but only if the plaintiff can prove that an account exists. Does the plaintiff just have to name the banks or do they actually have to have both the banks name and the actual account #??
