In Australia we gets lots of unsolicited mail (and the occaisional email) supposedly form Canada saying that you have won (heaps of money) on the lottery and send $20 (or more) procesing fee. Of course its a scam and most people send the letters back (return to sender) with a note saying just deduct the processing fee from the win and give me the rest! Of course the money doesnt turn up becasue there never was any. Another scam is people writing or emailing from Nigeria and other African places syaing that they have a couple of million dollars that they need to bank but dotn have an account and if you provide them with your account details they will give a million or two from the amount- yeah right...... Have your ever heard of anyone with a few million dollars sitting under their matress?
So as someone else said ... legitimate (Aus) lotteries DONT EMAIL PEOPLE and I imagin other countries would be the same. Now if you get a letter via registered mail on an official letterhead with legitimate contact details that might be a different story.. but my advice is steer clear of anything asking you for information about your bank/financial details.

If you want to go out and open a new bank account (withdraw the funds from your current one first in cash); Buy yourself a new computer, because your present one will be ruined; Change your name or they will find the sucker again: THEN SURE, GO AHEAD, CALL THEM BACK!
