So I thought I would get an early jump on taxes this year. I have W2 forms from all 3 jobs I've worked at this year and tax software so I went ahead and filled in the information and that was that. I received an email saying the IRS had accepted my return.

The only problem is a few days later I receive a letter with a form to include in my tax return. I had forgot about some stock I had sold early last year.

So since apparently the IRS has already accepted my tax return for this year what do I do? Apart from learning to wait to do my taxes.

I filed, and was supposed to get $289 back, but when it got deposited in my account, it's only $9, and now that I think about it, I think I owe my old college money. Is this something they would do to get the money I owe them?

Like I said, I work a full-time salaried job at $48K a year, and a part time job that earns $5500 a year. Both jobs are in a different tax bracket. The full-time is in the 25% bracket, but the part-time is in the 10% bracket. Will the part-time job ruin any potential refund I may get since both incomes are added together at the end of the year?

The value of the stock was less when we sold it than when they originally issued it. The company has yet to send out a 1099B, so I'm trying to use the information I have from the statement of holdings.

I only earned .62 on my checking last year in interest. I also haven't received a 1099-INT from my bank. Does this mean that I don't have to report it?

I heard in some states you do not have to pay taxes on the first $-250-500k of gains if you sell your primary home for more than what you purchased it. I was wondering if that is still the case if it is your secondary home. If not, would it be more advantageous for me (in a tax perspective) to sell my primary home first, then my secondary home?
