Go to your local Social Security office, you will need the birth certificate and your identification

If it exists, you're the only one who probably has it (that is, if the child is currently a minor).

You have to apply for it, before it's created. Go to your local Social Security office, along with your child's birth certificate, and picture ID for yourself.
