Yes! She must file a return like everyone else.

US citizens and permanent residents living abroad may be entitled to certain credits or exclusions for foreign-sourced income but must file a timely return (by the deadline including any extensions) to claim most of them.

US citizens and permanent residents are taxed on their world-wide income regardless of where they live.

Google "foreign earned income" on the IRS website for a wealth of information.

Also, there are tax specialists in many foreign countries who cater to the US ex-pat community. Any US Embassy or Consulate can provide a list of local tax professionals.

Here's the deal. You must file taxes every year but will be tax exempt on the first $82,000 of earnings. Anything over that amount will be taxable. If you make under that, you will be tax free but still have to file. Working overseas for a U.S. company defintely has it's advantages ($$$) but you will also be giving up everything American that you now take for granite. Believe me, you do miss the U.S.and everything American from time to time - I want to kiss the ground when I come home every year! Being away from friends and family can be hard too and it's a difficult adjustment for some. The good side is you'll be immersed in a new culture and will get a new perspective on life which can be interesting, sometimes frustrating, but always educational and that will make you a more worldly person. Sacrificing some time overseas will enable you to build wealth and independence for your return home though. You can amass savings that you would never able to do by working in the U.S. and that's motivation for a lot of us expatriates - expats for short. I dream about returning everyday but not until I can live there without a lot of financial concerns.

U.S citizens are taxed on your world wide income. Since in this case the taxpayer is a US permanent resident. Is she coming back to us and keep her US permanent resident visa ? She need to file US taxes then . Different rules apply if she abanoned US permanent resident visa. Need to check an accountant.

it truly is called tax evasion and it may recommend penitentiary. Al Capone went to penitentiary for tax evasion. you want to consult someone who focuses on overseas income. that is no longer perplexing yet maximum preparers not in any respect favor to fill one out. you're searching at a threat fines and consequences for no longer filing.

If you are being paid U.S. money, and receive a w-2 from the company you are working for, I would definitely think so.
