After including the $ I received from the unemployment, why did my return decrease? (Everytime I received an unemployment check an amount of $60 was already deducted for tax).

My mom is trying to get the money out of her 403 (b) plan but we don't want to pay the 10% penalty due to the fact that she'll have to pay federal taxes at the end of the year which don't take into account the 10%. I know this is a bad idea and we should wait and and try to find money from another source but that's not the case so just answer my question based on the information i give you. I know she can't take it directly from the employer's plan without the penatly but i do know she can roll it over to possibly a traditional or a rollover IRA and not get the penalty. But after she rolls it over she'll want to get it out and i know there's a way to withdraw from an traditional or roll over IRA without getting that 10% early withdrawal penalty. Any takers?

If I were single I would get 2200 dollars back and my husband if he were single would get about the same. Why is this I thought you got better tax benifits for being married we filed our taxes and we only got $157. I filled out both forms just to compare and being married is alot less.

I had quit an old job and a couple months later I recieved a check in the mail from my 401K. I was wondering if i needed to report that on my taxes, the letter that came with the check said that taxes had been taken out, and someone told me that if it was less than 600 dollars then I wouldn't have to report it. Is that true?

I recieved an email this morning from Turbo Tax telling me that my return had been accepted by the IRS and to expect my refund on 2/9/07. I went to the IRS website and they have no record of my return yet. Do you think that I'll get my refund on 2/9? Could the IRS website just be slow to update? I'm not really in a big hurry for my return, I'm just curious. Thanks!

I'm looking for an efficient way to do my taxes but am not sure what to use. I tried turbotax but it keeps asking me for a credit card to pay for the service before sending in my return stuff. I would use a credit card if i could, but i'm only 17 and dont have a credit card yet. is there anywhere online where they take the money they charge for the service out of your tax return.

so i submitted my taxes using TurboTax Delux, and filed electronically. I agreed to have my refund direct deposited into my checking account. After I clicked the "ok submit" button, I realized that the bank changed the routing number for that account, and the routing number that the IRS has for my refund is incorrect. How can i get a hold of a real person to talk to about this? All of the Phone numbers that i have found from the IRS site are all recorded or automated messages.
when i talked to Turbo Tax about it, they told me to call the IRS to get it fixed.
Please help!

I was laid off at my job on New Years Eve in 05'. I was out of a job until late April. While unemployed I was receiving unemployment checks. Well in early March I got a job for about 2-3 days and then quit going in because the woman was impossible to work with. Anyways, after that I kept on receiving my unemployment checks until I got my current job. Just the other day I got a W2 thing for a check they paid me for my few days there. I am wanting to know because I realize your not supposed to make unemp. claims with a job, and didnt want to turn in this thing to my tax lady and get in some trouble for doing that. So what happens if I dont give her the paper they sent me? Advice?
