every year my babys daddy files for my child she is nine years old. he has been claiming her for eight yrs. every year i submit papers showing and proving that she lives with me. he rushes to claim her and i end up with the short end of the stick, having to proove that she lives with me. i always get my refund late. when are they ever gonna catch up with this wrongfull claiming, we were never married and i do not have custody of her, neither does he. the only thing he has of her is her social security number. he told me that he recently filed bankrupcy due to oweing taxes i am not sure of how true that is. but i would like to know if i am claiming my child every year and he is claiming her to and i keep on providing the info that they need, what is the penalties for that. what will happen after they catch him and he keeps on claiming

I've been with my bf for 5 years, living together for 4 years.. and we had our first child in July 2005. Ever since having our child .. we decided it would be better for me to be a stay at home mother. So I've been out of work since June 2005 ....

Now my question is ... can he claim me and our daughter on his tax return as dependents? Should he claim head of household or just Single?? (We live in the US = Hawaii to be exact)

Thanks in advance ... Happy New Year!!

What should I do? Apparently there was a mixup, I stayed with my parents for the past 2 years and I thought they were claiming me on their income tax but I just found out that they assumed I was filing my own taxes. Should I just sent them in now??

I'm currently a permanent employee but was working as a casual worker during my studies. I was wondering if it's possible to claim my tax money back. I've heard that if you've worked while being a student you were able to as long as you'd left the country-by the way I'm a European citizen.

Whats the best way to file tax returns for the following scenario -
married but living seperately because of the job. I live in WA state, with no state tax however my spouse lives in another state which does have state tax. I pay mortgage however my spouse rents. My spouse had to move because of the job. I think we can get some benefit of that.

In the publications I've read, it said for sole shareholders of an s-corporation NOT to deduct health insurance premiums pre-tax from their payroll checks. However, I am working on our 2006 taxes and don't see where we will claim this medical insurance expense. Am I just missing something obvious? Where do I report this ... and I'm pretty sure it's not combine with "medical expense" because we don't have to reach the 7.25% of AGI threshhold.

Ok, I'll keep it short, just curious as to what status I should file my taxes under; Single, Married Joint, Married Separated, Head of Household.

Ok, I got married in March 06, to my GF of a few years which we lived together. In July 06 we separated (not legally though). I have my own place, she has her own place.

My wife has one daughter, not mine... She makes 3x less money then I do. When we were married and before we were married I paid well over half of the bills and living expenses.

So, under what status should I file my taxes under... Married Seperated (which I'll get less then 500 back from the feds), or Head of Household (which I'll get just over a 1,000 back from the feds)?

Thanks

... So you would pay no tax on income whatsoever?
How many other states do this?
I have a hard time believing this, probably because I was raised in only very liberal, high-taxing states.
