... So you would pay no tax on income whatsoever?
How many other states do this?
I have a hard time believing this, probably because I was raised in only very liberal, high-taxing states.

No personal STATE income tax - we still pay the Feds. Taxes are paid mostly by the casinos, but I believe some of it comes from other areas such as gas, room taxes, and probably property taxes.

We in Texas pay no state income tax. We do, however, pay about 8.25% sales tax on most purchases, big or small.

Until recently, we could not write off our state taxes on federal return, so we lost out versus the states that pay income tax over sales tax.

High taxes aren't just in liberal states, I can assure you.

everyone has to pay the irs lol

state tax is what you actually mean. and montana does not have any either. so now when you say "oh how lucky you all are" THINK again. we get taxed plenty! property taxes are frigg'n outrageous! what it boils down to is our residents pay up the butt and the tourists scate through the state on our dime. it's about time we DID get a state tax and started gaining from the tourists. maybe then they could lower the property tax and cut our residents a break.

I thought Nevada did have an income tax, but regardless, even if there is no income tax there would be other taxes in its place, as there is a cost to running government.

No state income tax here in Nevada.
The gaming industry is taxed and that's why
we don't pay state tax.
There may still be other western states without
state tax too.
