What are the documents needed to get a PAN number?

PAN stands for Permanent Account Number.

To get a PAN card you have to apply for the same.
You need to be of 18 yrs or more.
Resident of India.

Documents required for applying for PAN card are

1.Residence proof.(Elect.bill/ telephone bill/voter id etc.)
2.Identification proof.(Driving license/voter id/ degree certificate etc)
3.if you are in a job then a certificate from your employer.
Above documents are needed in a photo stat copy.

PAN is necessary in the following cases according to Section 139A of IT act 1961
1> sale or purchase of any immovable property valued at 5 lakh or more.
2> sale or purchase of a motor vehicle.
3> a time deposit exceeding 50000/- in any bank or in post office savings bank.
4> a contract for sale or purchase of Securities exceeding value of 10 lakhs.
5> opening a bank account.
6> making an application for a telephone connection including celluar telephone connection.
7> bill payments to hotels and restaurants exceeding 25000/- at any one time.

PAN No. is 'Permanent Account Number' alloted to all Income Tax payers in India. If you are having or going to have an Taxable income you should apply for PAN No.
You can go to http://www.incometaxindia.gov.in.and go to income tax link therein, on the income tax site You have a link for PAN where you can download pan form, apply online, and know the procedure.
Documents required are your identity proof and address proof. umay checked out at www.taxmann.com fee of pan card is 49/- rs

PAN is Permanent Account Number provided by the income tax Department of india for assessees at present you can apply through authorised centre list availble in Income tax web site, Unit Trust of India is an authorised agent for issue of PAN

PAN is Permanent Account Number....
it can be taken from the income tax authourity.
Person who are running business or getting salary or have any other source of income only get the PAN number's.......
if u r any one amongst them u can apply to income tax authority


Papers required are photo , bank statement, address proof & identity proof

As i know, bank, credit union, lending institution may ask for PAN.
