I guess I need to tell you a bit about me so we can narrow this down.

I will graduate this fall with a B.S. in psychology from Illinois tech. I have relevant work experience in survey data and stats for some big name companies.

I also managed computer labs and other employees. I worked on a project for Calamos investments and I'm currently interning at a multicultural marketing agency in downtown Chicago. Lastly, I'm bilingual.

I really don't know how much a person with my skills is worth. Salary.com makes the amounts fluctuate way too much. I have tried to network but I haven't made any relevant connections. My resume is up on monster and career builder. I had a couple of job offers in which they wanted me to drop out from school and work for them full time. I turned them down.

Any suggestions on what else I could do? This is really frightening to me. My friend graduated 6 months ago in business and he is working at the mall for 6.50 an hour.

I am a psychology fellow (aka: soon to be licensed psychologist) in a private group practice. I do not earn a salary. The practice is reimbursed by the insurance companies for my services. Then the practice issues me a paycheck every other week. The amount of my paychecks varies from week to week but usually not more than a few hundred dollars. I receive a 1099 and pay estimated taxes quarterly. I pay my own malpractice insurance and have health insurance through my spouse. Most major business and office expenses are paid for by the practice.

I usually tell people that I am self-employed but I'm wondering if there is a more accurate term to describe my situation. Plus, lenders to give me hard time about it due to the unpredictable and inconsistent pay.

I live in Miami and would like to set up a service AT the beach. I'm thinking along the lines of just putting a cheap canopy with a portable generator to do what I want to do.

Are there taxes/is it legal to do this on a public beach?

The family is thinking of opening a Chick-Fil-A franchise in our hometown. We know that it is a privately run chain, which is not traded publically. We know that it is influenced by the Christian faith in its operation.

I was wondering. Should the company consider me and my location good for a restaurant opening venture, how much would the start up cost be? I mean, franchising fee, training, machinery and equipment, etc?

a good and valid estimate with a good source will help tremendously.

I am 17 years old and in high school. I've been researching things to make me stand out on college applications. I often see "start a business". I was wondering, if I started a website online, and started selling my used cd's, books, movies etc...is that legal? Or is it illegal to resell them in that way. Any information would be helpful.

Thanks

Basically I have a normal non demanding job. I'm pretty experienced at repairing Air conditioners, heating units and the like. I already own all the tools needed and have the means to purchase any repair parts I need to repair peoples AC units on my own. My questions are how do I go about doing this on my own? What about taxes and licensing? I don't have a business license or insurance. I was thinking of just running an ad in the paper or on craigslist to get a few clients. I'm not looking at a full time job here just a little extra on the side. Are there any legalities I should be worried about? Any liabilities? I know the job but I just don't know a lot about the business side of it. I want to start small and if it works out it can grow to something bigger. I'm in the state of Virginia if that helps and would appreciate any advice on where to look for answers.

Has anyone had any dealings with this company? I like the idea as I don't really have a good mastery of the computer.
However, you have to be careful these days as there are so many companies promising big things and then not delivering.

I'm a 13 year old girl who is a serious dancer. Next March, my studio is attending a big event in California for a week and I am dying to go. The trouble is, my studio goes every 2 years, and my parents want me to wait until 11th grade. All of my friends are going this year, and I will do anything to go. I need to raise $400 in a few weeks, and $2000 by next February. I've already done the standard baby-sitting flyers and asked around for yard work, but it isn't enough. I am semi-busy during the summer with a few very-low pay jobs, but I really need to come up with this money. I can't do the newspaper route, our nieghborhood is already set, and as for the yard sale, if we have one, all the money is going to my older sister's college tuition next year. Please help! I need suggestions!
