My husband and I have been talking about buying a home for a few months now since we are both financially stable and have a baby on the way. We figure that we will need more space as she gets older and/ or as our family grows. We have looked around in different parts of town and have found a few homes that interest us within our price range but my husband says to keep putting it off until we have more money saved since the market is going to get better. I don't mind living in an apartment at all since I have mostly my whole life, but at the same time I keep thinking about my daughter and how nice it would be to have her grow up in a house just like my husband and I both did. Maybe I am just getting impatient but I feel we have more than enough money saved to do this. I know that he is just concerned that we might be on a tight budget once we buy a home... any advice or anyone who has been in a similar situation?

We will have about $5,000 to put down and haven't been pre-approved yet. We are both 25 years old with a bit of debt from school loans and credit cards, otherwise we both have great credit and are very much on top of our bills. Our debt will not be fully paid off by the time we buy our house but it will be lowered substantially. I just need to know where to start...

If there any loan officers out there that can please give me some advice i would really appreciate it. My son has a house that is currently being rented and I rent an apartment. Although he pays his mortgage on time he has bad credit and I have very good credit. His score if 560 and my score is 740. He wants to refinance and put my name on the mortgage since I have good credit. Will the bank allow this? If so how will it be done. Some people are saying he has to add me to the deed and wait 3 months, I have also heard he can just add me to the title and do it right away. I have heard some banks allow you to refi as long as you are just added to title. What is the difference between the two? I am trying to get a clear answer. Also, being that the house is rented do we have to get an investment property rate which is much higher than if it were owner occupied? The tenants that live in the house now are leaving and I am planning to leave my apartment and live there.

While looking into refinancing my mortage the broker told me about a money merge account and said it would be a great way for me to "build equity and get out of debt fast". We live paycheck to paycheck as it is. Would this really be a good idea for me or it is a gimmick?

I am renting a house that is fully furnished, I am looking after the property, however recently the tumble dryer packed up, the on button won't stay on(hotpoint). When I leave the property could I be sued for this type of thing? I recently called out the repair guy for the washing machine, he fixed it in 2 minutes, but charged me £40. My landlord has been fine but he has a history of litigation-took the previous letting agent to court.

My mother needs to move to the same town as us for family reasons. She is 62 and a widow. She is currently in a housing association house and doesnt pay any rent as her rent is paid for her through her pensions, war widows pension etc, housing benefit.

Our town is quite expensive but we really need her nearby and she is desperate to move here too. The rented properties here are around the £700-800 mark per month for a 2 bedroom property (my neice also lives with her). She thinks she will not be able to afford this amount per month, plus utility bills etc.

If she does an exchange with someone in our town who wants to move to hers, does anyone know how housing associations work? Is there a waiting list, criteria to be met etc.

Or is there any other way at all - could she obtain a mortgage at age 62?? with many thanks

We are 'preapproved' for a mortgage up to $220,000.
I am going to school fulltime
and my husband is working fulltime.
We have no dependants, we have to move to a new city to start my school and rent there is around $1100 a month for a 1 bedroom and $1500 for a fourplex, $1700 for a duplex. INSANE PRICES.
We have looked into buying a house as a mortgage would be cheaper then renting monthly. We have found a trailor thats at $54000 paying what we pay now in rent we would have it payed off in 5 years.
This trailor is only 31 years old...... we were told never to get a trailor because the value never increase is this true? or in this circumstance we should?

I live in a mobile home park where i own the home and rent the land, I have a 1995 double wide home, the wheels are still under it, I was thinking if the owner of the park will be able to move the home to a different area of the park, Will it be a major job to move? Its only a few houses away, but right now my back yard needs alot of mowing and a trail is behind it, which i get alot of 4 wheelers and kids walking across my yard, this area would be more private

I am renting a house with private yard and attatched garage. But my landlord stores his stuff in the garage and does not want me to use it for my car or storage. There is nothing either way in the lease about the garage. If I am paying for the space and the garage is attatched to the house shouldn't I get to use it? There was no verbal mention of not using it prior to signing lease.

2 years ago in April last, my partner of 11 years abandoned me for someone else. For 11 years I`d supported him financially, he hasn`t paid a single penny to anything since he left and I have no idea where he has gone to - before he left, he ran up debts and emptied my bank account! I am in serious debt now as a result of this and need to either sell my home or re-finance, neither of which I can do without my ex`s signature - he has made it quite clear he`d be pleased if my home was re-possessed (it was bought with monies left by late husband, but I foolishly put my ex`s name on the house as he `didn`t feel part` of our home!), my mortgage company will not move! they will not take his name off and are threatening to repossess my home as I have fallen into arrears ( they are insisting on the arrears being paid off in full plus 6 months payments before they will even consider taking his name off) - I have my hands tied, can anyone tell me how I can get his name off please?

Hi,

I am unclear on the issue of mortgaging multiple properties. I constantly see or read articles about people that invest in real estate and purchase multiple properties to rent. 90% of the time these people have regular jobs and are buying the properties will some cash down and mortgaging the rest. My question is how do they qualify to mortgage say 5-6 different properties? Doesn't it come to a point where the bank might say that you are overextended? Any help would be great. Thanks.

Since I obviously make a stupid mistake to start out with by not having an official signed lease, I wanted to let you guys help me out on this situation:
My husband has orders(military) and we need to leave in LESS than 30 days..we haven't given notice yet. There's a military clause in my lease copy (never signed this because they had some other property w/different name on it, and just never rec'd a correct copy from landlord).
So, what rules do I follow in regards to the proper notice necessary since no lease was signed, and this is for military reasons? I'm in Texas.
