no, why would it be? My boyfriend and I have been together for 4 years and we aren't married and we just bought our first home last month. I would much rather have a home together than get married and then go home to my mom's house. Lots of hidden costs in buying a house so be careful!

No. You actually in the end pay more than a single person because you are subject to a lower tax rate, therefore in the grand scheme of things, you save less money using the interest and property taxes as a tax deduction being married than someone who is single would save.

But as far as purchase price, no. As far as interest rate you can get on the mortage, no.
