I only owe on 1 line of credit and my payment is $540 a month. I have contacted my creditors and they won't do anything to help me and I am at a point it's feed my child and pay my rent or pay this debt. I have contacted a counseling service and they can't help. SO... here is what I want to know..what is the worst thing that could happen if I don't pay it and just stop paying it cold turkey? I'm in NC.

Secondly, please don't tell me what I should do..the question is what would happen if I did this. Thanks! :)

My girlfriend and I have found the house of our dreams. It is an older home in a semi-dangerous neighborhood. She doesn't work, but I earn around $16,800 a year now, with prospects of a raise in January. The house costs $569,000 but we may be able to trim some, thanks to the real estate bubble collapse. Can someone please figure out what our strategy should be, in order to secure this house? We have a baby due in May 2008, and want a "nest" for our baby. Thanks.

Life has not been kind lately. I have run into several financial difficulties and had to move back home. My entire life is in my storage facililty and is due to be auctioned off. I have tried to plead with them to give me more time as no one can let me borrow the money due to the holiday season. Any suggestions would be kindly appreciated.

If you had a vehicle loan for 9k and credit cards that equaled 11k, but you could pay off 2 if not 3 of them which would you spend the money on if you were given 9k to do either with and WHY??

And will we able to continue to file joint tax returns if we have separate living trusts? What are the pros and cons? Our atty has suggested this for us, but I am not sure I understand the benefits. Thank you.

1. Who to get to open one? I know I can get my local bank to open it or even my insurance carrier but are there benefits of using one over another?
2. Can I actively trade securities in the account? I guess this goes back to the first question because if the answer is yes then I want to use a service that charges the least comission rates.

Thanks.....

I got a new checking account with a bank (whose name I won't mention right now) I signed up at the end of the day, so it was rushed. So I call them about a week later about something ... and they start asking me strange personal questions. Like ... what's my daughter's name and her age? It's not like she's going to be using the account, this woman already knows my daughter is a toddler. So I told her it was none of her business. And then she tells me if I hadn't signed up at the last minute they would have asked me all this to begin with, and I don't have to tell them now but I should expect them to ask me that, and other personal questions each time I communicate with them, because they're supposed to have that info. Is that crazy, or is it me? This is the first bank account I've had since before 911, so I don't know what's because of the Patriot Act. But this seems to be too much.
