Hi. Can anyone recommend some popular and sound personal finance software? I would go for MS money or Quicken but neither of them have support in the UK. I don't want to connect to the Internet for this and I don't run a business- just home use. Thanks very much!

I know that credit card companies aren't REQUIRED to lower theirs, but they usually do, right? So can I call my credit card company tomorrow and ask for a lower rate, or should I give them a week, or what?

I am a stay at home mom with 5 children, one in diapers and eating infant formula and baby food.

My husband thinks that $200-$300 per month is more than enough to supply the entire family with food, baby items, clothes, health & beauty items, household cleaners & other items.

I have showed him statistics on what average households spend, I have showed him grocery receipts even with my coupons, nothing works. I really need a specific budget and to know a certain time each month when I will get the money so that I can plan on what to spend depending on sale ads.

Right now I have to beg him for money when we run out of things, and then I'm just buying things when they are not even on sale because I have to have them right away.

He believes that the man is the head of the household, and a woman should not have any say in the finances. I understand that I don't work, and I have even asked to get a night job, but he wants me here to take care of the kids.

Any help??

I was just checking out someone else's question about "how to save money", and I noticed that one answer said that you shouldnt use a debit card when paying for things in a store. Why is that? I'm a little nervous, because I do it all the time!!

I currently have two personal loans, and the interest rate is WAAAAY over the roof and I can't handle it anymore. These loans are from -- gasp! -- Cash Call, and their interest rates is somewhere in the 90's. I was DESPERATE at the time and am now paying for it. From what I know, Cash Call does not work with any debt consolidation companies. What is the best way for me to transfer this debt to a lower interest rate? Possibly another loan? I don't own a home, and have few assets, so I'm limited as far as being accepted for loan. PLEASE, ANYONE, help? Does anyone have suggestions on how to transfer this debt so I can pay it off without having to worry about such a high interest rate?

well this morning I checked online and it posted however they did a deposit correction and instead of reading a deposit of $460.00 it now reads a deposit of $240.00 I called the bank and they said they need to research it. I said I counted it while standing at the ATM just to double check that I was depositing $460.00 and I even included my own deposit slip from my check book in the deposit envelope as well. Who can I write to or how can I get my money back? I had so much trust and loyalty from WaMu that I never ever thought something like this would happen to me. Any ex bank clerks that can point me in some kind of direction??????

is I have a terminal illness and know I will not have to repay it from the grave. I got over the thought of death quickly and decided to take advantage and cramp as much in while I can and live it up, and have taken out loans and cards worth more than a 100 000 dollar already.
Am I right?

On the BBC news today and American who had not been able to pay his mortgage was interviewed. He was sitting in the house which he can't afford to pay for. Why hasn't his home been repossessed? In the UK if you can't pay your mortgage your home is repossessed and sold to repay the loan.
The house is security for the loan.
If this had happened there would be no crisis in the money markets, and our building society deposits would be safe in the UK.
Americans... Is this an isolated case, or do you have different rules in America to the UK?

My thinking is that with 7 mill after taxes and buying a big house and some investments you will still have alot of money but not to much were family members and friends will bug you to death. with 20 you will have much more money and feel guilty not giving money to family. what do you think?
