A rep from Credit Solutions called me and advised to make no payment until they can reach a settlement with my credit card companies?! No payments, mean bad record on my credit report. Is Credit Solutions a company to trust?

A rep from Credit Solutions called me and advised to make no payment until they can reach a settlement with my credit card companies?! No payments, mean bad record on my credit report. Is Credit Solutions a company to trust? The appeard on NBC and CBS as good companies and are certified by J.D. Power and Associates? please help...

Go to this site: http://www.nfcc.org/ . This is Consumer Credit Counseling Services (CCCS), a legit non-profit company offering free credit counseling. They also have a debt management program available, if you qualify, for no fee. They can look at your financial situation and advise you of how to proceed.

Not paying for several months and then threating bankruptcy is a typical tactic for many of these debt relief/counseling companies. They take their fees up front and leave your credit trashed. Meanwhile the creditors will continue to call and some will take you to court.
