"Coinstar" machines take 7% of everything you cash in, so that's not a very good option. If I take it to the bank, does it have to be rolled?

What I would ask you to do is for the entire month of June, not buy gasoline from any Exxon/Mobile gas station.
One day as in the May 15th boycott is not enough to make an impression, but a month is.
Between now and mid June we can figure out who the lucky winner for July will be.
I realize this will mean driving all the way around the corner to buy your gas at the Shell station, but if it gets the oil companies attention it will be worth it.
I would also ask that you enlist as many participants as possible, e-mail every one you know and ask them to do the same. If you have a Myspace or any other means to get the word out ,please do.
Even if you are sceptical, please participate.

So, will you help?

I have an auto loan that has a balance of 6500.00 at a ridiculous interest rate. I want to put 4500.00 towards paying it off. Should I send the 4500.00 to my current loan, then try to negotiate a better interest rate or should I try to negotiate a better interest rate first before applying the 4500.00?

I am a current grad student who works full-time. I do not have a wife or kids, and live a relatively moderate lifestyle. I rent an apartment and have low car/student loan payments.

Should I still shoot to have a 3-6 month emergency fund or can I get by with less than that?

I took out a loan from one of those payday advance places. I made my payments regularly for about 4 payments, then fell behind and couldn't contiue to pay. The place told me that they were going to take the money direct from my account through and ACH, so i made a stop payment. They have been calling me like crazy, but when I try to talk to them to work something out, they just want the full payment, which I can't make. I wasn't that worried about it until a friend of mine said it was a felony. Is this true?

I just received a phone call from a bank where I just opened an account. A woman said my checking account didn't have enough money to cover a 2,000.00 check that was written. I don't have any checks for this account. I asked what the date was, and she said it wasn't showing. All that was showing was the amount. Then she asked if I would like to have the bank transfer funds from my money market account. I again asked for a date on check. She puts me on hold. A man picks up. I ask him if this is the same man I spoke with at bank when I opened account. He said he was no longer there, moved to another branch. I hung up on him. Waited about 5 minutes, and called the number back that was the number on my cell from which was supposed to be my bank. I got a recording to leave a message, and would return my call by the end of the day. What should I do?

If someone gave you a million dollars and said if you don't spend, it in a hour I will shoot you. But, your not allowed to give it to people as gifts. 1. Is it possible to spend that much money in a little time? 2. What would you spend it on? 3. And would being shot play a factor at being a 'dumb' shopper??
This is only for fun so please be nice and smile and use your imagination!!!

Over a year ago, I had someone from Primerica try to convince me to turn my 5.75% 30 year mortgage into an 8% "22" year mortgage ..which would be paid 'biweekly'.

His rational was that 'interest rates don't matter' and I would be saving because I could pay the mortgage off earlier.

When I showed him that I would be paying several thousand more in interest in the first few years to Primerica as opposed to keeping my current mortgage and adding an extra payment at the beginning of the year (26 biweekly payments =13 monthly payments a year)...he still insisted Primerica was better.

I mean, people say it isn't a scam because its a legitimate business..well..check advance businesses are legitimate and lawful businesses too..and rip you off.

So..why do Primerica people completely disregard monetary policy (the importance of interest rates on the economy) and try to sell people high interest rate mortgages?
