I'm 21, in college, live at home but i've been saving up a lot and i don't buy as much clothes/shoes etc anymore but all my other friends seem to buy all these things (tiffany bracelet, LV, dior). It's tempting but should i spend my money on those or is it true that the more i save up now, the faster i can put a downpayment on a house?

Hi; I have a question regarding choosing from either credit union or dealer to finance my future car(Toyota Corolla or Matrix). I knew some credit unions provided better APR than dealer, and I was wondering to buy a car on Sep.4; the Labor Day. My problem is, I got a experian score about 746, and I don 't know should I finance my car directly from dealer or credit union? furthermore, I knew that the credit union would have to collect my income information; however, my income seems a little low, but I got support from my mom who is in foreign country right now, will they really have to get such information from me because I am afraid my application will be decline, andI want to make sure is it better to finance from the dealer or credit union because I have heard my friends say that on Labor Day there will be big sale on autos... tks for answering my question.

I really need some advice. I'm getting some very nasty phone calls from collection agencies & it's really stressing me out. I did some math today & I have 14 maxxed out credit cards equalling over $25,000 in debt. I know that is completely monstrous & that I was very irresponsible. I'm really not sure what I was thinking, but I know I have got to take some action. I want to file for bankruptcy, but obviously I can't afford a lawyer. I know that a person can file pro se, but I tried to fill out the paperwork & can't understand hardly any of it. I'm at my wit's end about this now. The only income I have is my $200 a month for child support (of which there isn't enough left over to make a difference on my debt). Gabe's checks barely cover our utilities & groceries, so he's unable to help out either. All of our bills get paid except my credit cards & store accounts. I just don't know what to do! Please offer any advice you can. Thanks.

Sidenote: I'm 39 weeks pregnant (& can't work).

If so, what interest should I expect?
and would my new on time payments increase my score?

I need to increase my score to get a nice apartment. I never had a bankruptcy, or foreclosure. I missed several credit card payments(I was in college) 6 years ago.

I closed my bank account over 12 months ago. I made sure that I payed the bank's fees ect and then collected my pay before closing this account. Last week, this bank contacted me and demanded that I pay them 700$! They say that the money I withdrew (whenI closed the account), which was MY pay, was actually their money. I am now being asked to pay this huge amount (they gave me 24hrs to pay)-eve though I have not heard from this bank in over 12 months. Can theydo this to me? I had no loans, overdrafts or credit cards, so I can't work out how they think that I owe them even one cent! Please help me-I am in a panic over having to pay a debt that was not my making??

I'm in NJ, and my brother and a friend who worked together in a restaurant in the GA area decided to open a small take out place for themselves. My brother asked me for a loan of $10,000 to help purchase the restaurant, and I wired the money to a joint account of the friend and her mother, since my brother did not have a savings account. (He's here on a Visitor's Visa.) The acquisition didn't work out, so they decided to look for another one. In the interim, however, my brother's friend decided to use the money to purchase a house in a girlfriend's name!

What can I do to try and recoup the money? I only found out that the friend had spent the money when I reqeusted it back, and nothing came after two weeks of her daily claims to have wired it.
I've tried to reach both the friend and the mother, but they are not returning my calls.
They never signed the promissory note, but I do have a notorized copy of the documentation showing the wire transfer.
Any guidance at all would be great!
