i am trying to find a way directly through the us treasury but i can't seem to do it right....can someone help

Unclaimed funds are usually handled by the state. Whatever state you live in, go to the web site and find the treasurer. Click on there and you will be able to claim your funds.

Two websites for you: www.missingmoney.org and www.unclaimed.org. Typically, unclaimed properties are handled through the treasury department of the state where you reside or have resided. These site cooperate with many of the state websites.

In Mi, it is www.mi.gov
Check your state website because they are the ones who get the escheated funds.
