My bank said they would not cash my payroll check because it would appear negative on my account until it cleared. I currently have a positive balance but the new check exceeds the balance. I have never had this happen before and it is still with the same employer why would they do this?

We have credit cards and I have cut them up already, but it seems like I'll never get them paid off. It's discouraging. Any pointers to keep me on the right track

I am changing jobs and I want to take out my 401k to help with some outstanding debts. It is worth about 23,000.00 but I owe around $2000 on a previous loan, so that brings it down to about 21,000.00. My employer will hold out 20% for taxes and a 10% penalty....adding my 401k to my estimated yearly earning, my total taxable income is about 55,000.00 +/-. We have 5 dependents and have never made enough to have to pay taxes. What is the likelihood of having to pay taxes on this lump sum distribution?

I earn £17,000 before bonuses and he earns around £13,000. We are not looking to get a mortgage straight away, but in around a years time. How much do you think we will be given? (Obviously providing our credit checks etc are OK!)

I need some financial advice, if you would be so kind. I can give more details, as needed, but the long & short of it is this: we've got no debt, except for our primary mortgage and a small 2nd mortgage, and an American Express "Sign & Travel" account. I recently learned some things that I didn't know about that Amex account. I didn't realize they attach any charge over $700 to it. And I didn't realize they are charging 28% interest. The interest, alone, is $3000 a month and we can't afford it. My husband says we owe $40,000 to them. We spoke to Amex and they refuse to lower the interest rate (making it more manageable for us to pay). Do you have any suggestions?
As stated, I can give you all the details you'd like, in any form you'd like. i.e.: phone, emails, etc. Please, contact me if you can offer knowledgeable assistance. Thank you.

Your new charts for individual stocks often won't come up and then immediately disappear. The old charts were usable and excellent. Why the change?

NOT including retirement plans and 401k plans. (just money to have for car breakdowns, appliances, lost time off work, etc.)

I am really worried about retirement and my current job. I can't say that I really care about financial planners. Are there any people who feel the same way. What is the solution? One financial planner told me that 2000 dollars today will only be worth 700 dollars in 20 years. Now that to me is scary. The ups and downs of the stock market make me awfully nervous. I get touchy when it comes to these financial planners but I get touchy when I think that I've got to have 85% of my income to retire too.

I ask this in the vein of . . .a question I saw by a male (apparantly) stating . . "How to best ask any lady for anything".

But, nevertheless, I am somewhat serious. Like . . let him -think- he may have a chance . . .or let him think whatever it takes. . . So what is best way? And I mean men who have enough money that it won't hurt them to give it.
