Two of my relatives are experiencing severe financial difficulty. One was laid off and out of work for 6 months. The other lost his business after 9/11.

One spends nearly every dime she earns on paying bills--partially or whatever--the vast majority of which have some overdue balance. She always puts the bills first and sometimes doesn't have enough for gas or groceries. She saves nothing and, when she has an unexpected expense (like a medical bill) she's in big trouble.

The other relative spends every dime of his paycheck, too. He pays bills--which also have past due balances--to the best of his ability. He considers gas and groceries as bills that must be budgeted for properly--and not last. But he also believes in paying himself (saving) first. His theory his that while it will take longer to pay off his bills, me must still consider that emergencies might occur and that he still has to support himself in the future including after retirement. (continued)

What age do you need to be to get a certificate of deposit from a bank? I am 16 and was wondering if I will need a parent to sign anything so I can get a CD.

We owe about $30,000 in credit cards because we both lost our jobs two years ago.We have been in a downward spiral for the past two years and have incurred all the debt in that time. Just two years ago we were debt free and didn't even owe on our car. We had to sell our car and buy another one while we still had good credit and we used that money to pay bills until it ran out. Now we are in way over our heads because we are still only making 1/2 of what we were before. Consumer Credit Counselling told us that we need to make $700 more per month before they will take us, but we are both already working full time and we have a family at home. We stopped paying our credit cards about 4 months ago. We are worrying about what legal actions these credit card companies can take. We don't own our own home or any property. Can they guaranshee (sp?) our wages? Help!

I dont really have a permanent job, but I heard that the sooner you contribute, the more you have later. I just want to know the options and what I can do about it. Is there anything I can do?

To give or not to give that is the question. Do you all beleive everything you read on the net. I came across a sight where some lady was begging for money for a hummer. I found another where a mother needed help paying her bills. I sent her a doller. it was crazy but i fell for the heartwarming story. Makeamommyrich@paypal.com was the paypal address. Do you think it is wrong for people to beg for money. How can you tell if the story was true? my husband said i was crazy to send a penny what would you do.

Trying to find info on money grants is somewhat difficult. I'm trying to find info on grants for home improvement, building, etc & so forth. Too many of those that pop up on the internet & in ads advertising free money & grants that I know are fake or have major catches to them. All those 1-800 numbers - don't even call because they are probably a scam. Really looking for the real deal true grants. Thanks for any info!

I'm debating whether to buy Euro now or next week, so I want to find a website where I can see Euro-US Dollar trends. I want to make a decision to buy right now or next week. If possible, put a link on the answer. Thanks

I have a school loan that is a private loan with Key Bank. The principal balance is $38,500.
My loan payment is $400 a month.
I have saved $10,000 to pay down the loan.
WHICH WILL SAVE ME MORE MONEY DURING THE LIFE OF THE LOAN?
If I pay extra each month towards the principal or if I just make a single lump sum payment of $10,000 to the principal?

The interest rate is 8.290% on $17,635 AND 8.320% on $20,863.

The interest rates are VARIABLE!

Thank you for your time!
