not in debt and never filed bankruptcy either . House is paid for , GT cobra paid for , truck paid , zero mortgage , and I have not paid one cent in interest in 24 years on my credit card as I have always paid the balance in full every month . In todays world I would want as little as possible debt cause the economy is gonna tank , housing prices are soft - Feel sorry for those who borrowed heavily against their house - , and if you think utilities and fuel prices are going down you must be on drugs or terminally stupid . America will pay whatever it takes to be cool in the summer , warm in the winter , and drive and these companies know it . I remember my next door neighbor saying the day gas hit $2,00 he was parking his car . Guess what ? He didn't and even bought his wife a gas guzzling hummer .

$0 debt. house paid off, car paid off, net rental income $40,000 a year, not working anymore, spend less money, but less stress, only money i am spending right now is travel and basic need. husband likes to spend more, he still has over $200,000to pay off his house, in the process of changing his spending habit.
