if a bank transfer is made with in the same bank will it go into account that same day.?

If it is with the same bank then normally yes but remember it may not be till the end of the banking day when all transactions or transfered

If the transfer is made by CHAPS (Clearing House Automated Payment System) by 3.00pm then yes it should do. After 3.00pm then it may be next day.

Should go in as cleared funds unless the receiving bank is unable to verify whether the funds were cleared from the originating bank in which vase they can add clearance days to the money.

Credit slips over the counter usually take 3 days but again can have clearance place don them if the original funds paid by cheque.

BACS payments (i.e. how your salary is paid into your account) is usually by magnetic tape and runs overnight.

As mentioned, different banks have different rules so call into the bank and ask them.

Yes it does, but whether or not the bank tell you is a different matter , money appears to go into the twilight zone where no one has is. If I transfer between accounts it is instant but if I transfer to someone else's it vanishes for a couple of days.

Depending on the bank I suspect. I bank with BofA and I can tell you when I transfer funds to other accounts, they show up as pending deposits on the accounts the same day. It also depends on the time of day as well.

Only if its a CHAPS transfer, Bacs transfers can take up to 4 days to appear in your account. But I also think it depends on the bank that your with as well.
