The only time a collection agency can legally charge interest, is when the contract with the original creditor states that they can.

If the original contract does not have it included, then the collection agency would be in violation if they charge interest.

You can contact the hospital and request a "FULL" accounting of all of your accounts. They are "required", by law, to give that to you if you request it. Then read the documents that you signed when you went for treatment.
